The Metz 72mm Adapter Ring is made to fit their Mecablitz 15 MS-1 ringlight flash. The 15 MS-1 is delivered with 52, 55, & 58mm adapter rings. If the filter threads of your lens are instead 72mm, you'll need to purchase this adapter ring to affix the Mecablitz 15 MS-1 to the front of your lens.
Simply affix this adapter ring to the front of your lens just as you would install a filter, and then the MS-1 can attach to this adapter ring with its quick release function.
