Sennheiser CX 200 Street II reviews

CX 200 Street II In-Ear Stereo Headphones is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Comfortable to wear but poor sound The CX 200 are a great designed headphone, they are supremely comfortable to wear, however they are let down by very poor sound quality. I assumed the CX-200 would be on a similar level to other sennheiser products i have purchased, but these are not. They have a very thin, almost tinny sound with a complete lack of bass. The sound is so awfull, they are almost unusable. The standard headphones which come with the ipod/ iphone are far superior. The sennheiser mx371 which i also purchased are half the price of the CX-200 but sound way better. I would not recommend this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Overpriced for the quality I purchased these as an alternative to high quality full ear headphones for monitoring audio for video. Sennheiser is certainly a trusted name in audio but these headphones do not measure up. I A/B'd them with an inexpensive set from the check out line at a grocery store for about 1/3 the price. The CX 200's had a tinny pinched sound. My cheapos sounded like studio monitors in comparison. The Sennheisers are very comfortable and do come with replacement buds but I cannot recommend them. They will be relegated as a back-up to a back-up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Value and Solidly Built These ear buds provide a pleasing sound. There's a nice, solid bass, but not over-powering and a reasonable response through the rest of the sonic spectrum. I use the large size tip and that gives good isolation from outside sounds. I listen to jazz, classic and pop and enjoy these headphones for all of those settings. I hold back one star from my rating because I have to look carefully to see which side is left and which is right. Some way to distinguish by way of touch would be ideal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Affordable Quality This is my 4th set of CX-200's. My whole family uses them for audio at the gym and on public transport. They are not expensive but sound great. They have decent base and don't sound tin-y. The ear buds are very comfortable and the cords are long enough to reach the TV audio connector on the elliptical. In our usage, we had lost sound in one ear numerously due to stretching of the cords - but have accepted this as normal hazard for this kind of use. Would buy again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's actually good and I'd recommend it! Before I bought this product, I read a lot of reviews and concluded that it mostly received positive feedbacks from the customers. There were also a few who gave negative feedbacks about it, but I still took the risk to buy it, and I'm glad I did. For the first few times I tried to use the product, I thought that there was something wrong about it. It felt like it lacked something which I thought was the bass. It was not that clear but everything else was good. I tell you, I was even very disappointed about it because it was supposed to have more bass as what is stated in its packaging. I even started to envy the apple earpods because it had more bass compared to mine. I also read more reviews about the product again and found out that some people were also complaining about that lacking in bass. However, one reviewer struck me the most and made me realize that I was the one at fault. This product is needed to be fit in the ear canal that's why it is called by it's name. That would also mean that there is a proper way of inserting these kind of earphones. Just ask GOOGLE. You'll definitely notice the difference and the bass is clearer and louder. You would find yourself decreasing the volume since it is really loud when you have inserted them properly. I'd admit that these may not be the best earphones you can buy, but with it's price and quality it's surely something you need to try! Just make sure to insert them properly, and they also make good noise cancelling earphones!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good quality but... I bought these as my walkman headphones. I needed a new pair because my last pair began losing contact someplace in the wire. I am a pretty discerning music listener but have largely given up on trying to find a good pair of earbuds out of frustration. The frustration that comes from trying to find the right pair simply by reading internet reviews. So I have always saved my money and settled for the reasonably clear and reasonably balanced sound you can get from a $20 dollar pair of phones. Anyway, since I was back in the market, I got a renewed wave of determination to find a better pair. But in the end, after reading all the reviews on the web, I wasn't willing to risk any more money than around $30-$40 bucks without being able to take a test drive. So in my price range I found these Sennheiser Street II's and plunked down my cash. In a lot of the reviews I found a somewhat heated debate over the sound quality, but that seemed to be related to a batch of pirated copies versus the actual Sennheiser versions. I was buying from a reputable dealer so I was not concerned. The other thing I found in my research was some people that complained about simply not being able to get these equalized. They commended the company for a high quality product but marked the product down a little in the review due to the lack of ability to get satisfying sound from the buds. Kind of like they really wanted to like them but just couldn't. Now that I have them in hand, I understand exactly what those people were speaking about. I too am a wannabe liker of these earbuds but just can't really warm up to them. I have been using them for about 2 weeks and I still want to tweak the EQ setting in my MP3/phone every time I listen to music. I would say that I am almost frustrated enough to shelve these in search of another model. This may end up actually happening soon. Like everyone else said though, they are very nice quality, the are very comfortable, and they fit very well but in the end, it is the sound that matters. I don't know how to explain it but I am just not able to get the satisfying punch from my music that I would equate to the difference between listening to the same music over a particular stereo system and then turning on the amp. Just night and day in my mind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clean and balanced! I've always loved how clean and balanced (EQ-wise) Sennheiser headphones are, and these are no exception. I don't know the other products out there very much, but at $, I can't imagine that there's a better value out there. I went with this price range because I have larger cans for serious listening (Sennheiser again). Wish the wiring was asymmetrical, though...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeds expectations! I had pretty much given up hope of getting good, full sound from in-the-ear earbuds that I could afford, and regular buds are very uncomfortable for me. Then I found these and I can't believe the difference in sound quality without the budget-breaking price, all with complete comfort! Total success!
