The Universal Transfer Switch 6-Circuit 120V from APC is an automatic transfer switch, designed for use in optional standby systems. The switch provides power for up to 6 circuits in a home or office. Power can be derived from either 1 or 2 independent backup sources. These sources can include generators, UPS systems, solar inverters, or other alternative energy sources.

When connected to electrical equipment, the backup power source can provide power during outages. When used in conjunction with a UPS, it protects equipment from brownouts, sags, surges, and outages.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from APC UTS6H Unit arrived quickly and was exactly as expected. I found installation manuals a little confusing as it was the same manual for a number of different versions in the APC product line. The UTS6H is different than the other models in that it is only 120V and does not handle any 240V circuits. I like the APC Transfer switch in that it will work with both a UPS and a generator. I wish it went one step further and allowed an inverter, a generator and a UPS, but this is better than anything else I have found. I wish the armored cable bundle was more flexible. It was too stiff to curve into my electrical panel and I had to shorten it. This was made more difficult because there were so many cables in the bundle. The unit includes 6 fuses that can be either 15 amp or 20 amp. It comes populated with 15 amp fuses, and 3 spare 20 amp fuses. I also wish there was the ability to prioritize which circuits would be dropped to shed load. You can set up several circuits to shed, as well as time limits, but no priorities. Finally, I wish a 10 circuit, 120V version were available. Since all circuits are permanently wired through the transfer switch, I'd prefer the ability to have more circuts for standand use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product This is a great solution to powering my condo with a little 120v 2000 watt generator. My microwave oven circuit is on a 20 amp circuit so I needed a panel with 20 amp circuits; try and find a 120 volt transfer switch with 20 amp circuits - I couldn't find one but I found this thing and I'm happy I did. Since the panel can be recessed into drywall, I don't know why they didn't include knockout plugs on all sides; I had to drill my own hole and re-route all of the 13 wires. The generator power inlet on the 6H model is simply a terminal block inside. Each circuit comes fused with a fast acting 15 amp CC cartridge fuse instead of a circuit breaker - why they used fuses, I don't know. These things are not easy to find and expensive - plus you have to open the panel to replace them. They do give you a single 20 amp cartridge to replace one circuit - so if you have more than one 20 amp circuit, you'll need a $10 fuse for each one. Plus spares. The panel will tell you exactly how many watts each circuit is pulling in real time - very cool since I never knew how many watts I really use. The load shedding appears to function, I put my fridge on delayable so it gets switched off when a short time high demand appliance is needed. So far, I'm very happy with his product. It looks good in my garage. I would recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smart transfer switch. This transfer switch is easy to wire and set up with moderate electrical knowledge. It's an amazing controller that I hope I never have to use, but if necessary, I know that I can rely on it to safely control 6 important circuits. I can set up and monitor vitals of each circuit individually.
