NEC SVII-PRO-KIT Reviews
Designed for the pros
The sensor and software are easy to use and will give good results using the basic functionality. However, if you really want to dial it in you'll need a very good understanding of color management, color space and how to specify the different color coordinates. Color is a very complex topic and this kit really is for the professional.
First-Rate Tool for NEC Monitor Owners
I bought this along with a NEC PA272W-Bk 27 NEC monitor; replaced older monitors and colorimiter. If you're doing color-critical work, obviously you need to establish some kind of monitor calibration routine. Since this sensor and the Spectraview software are designed to communicate directly with current generation NEC professional monitors, calibration becomes pretty much a one-click task, once you've installed the Software and done the inital calibration. Specraview II will make all monitor adjustments as it works. When you're done with the calibration, you will need to choose the new monitor profile in each application you use.The photo shown here is out of date: the software is supplied on a USB-connected dongle, with the serial number printed on the back.
A must have!
If you purchase an NEC monitor, that can utilize this calibration package, you need to consider this a necessity. What an unbelievable difference it made. It's easy to setup, completely automated, and yields quick and accurate calibration results. The only downside to this product is that it is only compatible with NEC monitors. If you want to calibrate any other monitors you own you'll need to purchase a seperate x-rite calibration system.
Very easy to use
A must have for a NEC monitor owner that are into photography.
Great calibration Tool
I use the color sensor and software to calibrate my NEC PA272W monitor and it worked great. I had trouble setting it up for my MAC but a call to NEC fixed all of that very quickly. I am very happy with the results.
Excellent Addition
An excellent addition to an already fantastic monitor. Coupled with the Spectrview software, it make calibration simple and fast.
NEC Spectra View II
This product is very simple to use, install the software and plug into the monitor's USB port. It can even calibrate NEC monitors without the monitor attached to a PC. It works quickly and delivers good results. the sensor appear to be accurate. My only complaint is that for this price it should also be able to calibrate screen to prints by measuring a printed test pattern. Unfortunately it doesn't do that thus 4 stars our of 5.
Ease of Use
I used the SVII to calibrate the NEC EA24UHD monitor. The process was straightforward. I have a USB cable connected to the monitor. The product was easy to use. My intended use is to improve my screen-to-print matching. Keep in mind calibrating the color of the monitor is only one of many steps. Selecting the right calibration targets, like luminescence/contrast for your ambient environment are important.
