Can these speakers be connected to the fire alarm system in a building of 5 stories?

No, we do not recommend using the Bogen Ceiling Speaker Assembly with S86 8" Cone for a fire alarm system. Speakers that are intended for use in a fire alarm or alert system are required to have specific UL certifications to ensure that they will work in the event of an emergency. You can use speakers that are intended for a fire alarm system for general PA applications, but you cannot use general PA speakers for a fire alarm system.

is there away to control the volume if it doesnt have a knob?

The volume can be changed by connecting to different taps on the transformer ( 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, or 4 watts). That is one of the advantages of a 25/70 volt system. Hope this helps.

What leads do I use from the Bogen S86-T725 ceiling speakers(11) to a Bogen V250 amplifier?

You will use the black lead for common (earth/ground) and then whichever tap you choose to use (25v 70v or 8 ohm) and connect the corresponding lead to the amp.

can this product be used with a hard lid ceiling?

Although designed for drop-ceilings. I do not see why it could not be used in a hard lid ceiling (gypsum board) installation.
