Bogen S86 Overview

This Bogen Ceiling Speaker Assembly is a pre-assembled 8" ceiling mounted speaker for your 70V or 25V commercial audio system. The speaker is sold complete with transformer, 8" S86 cone and grille cover.

It has a bright white finish, volume knob, and a screw terminal bridge. The speaker is easily installed into drop-ceilings, features a 4W capacity and a 50 Hz to 12 kHz frequency response suitable for paging and background music.

Volume knob in the center of the grill allows for fast and easy volume adjustment
Screw terminal bridge for quick, accurate connection to additional speakers and amplifier

Been using these for years with no complaints.

I've been using these speakers for about 12 years now. My company has been using them for longer than that. We have around 250 grocery stores with an average of around 15 speakers in each store. So about 3750 speakers. We have maybe 4 dead speakers a year. Probably less. Of those that go bad, almost all of them are over 10 years old. Can't get much better than that.

Works well. The ceiling tile brackets you use with these are awkward to install with these speakers so the install took longer than I expected, but the sound is good. Client is happy - I'm happy.

can this product be used with a hard lid ceiling?

Although designed for drop-ceilings. I do not see why it could not be used in a hard lid ceiling (gypsum board) installation.

Can these speakers be connected to the fire alarm ...

Can these speakers be connected to the fire alarm system in a building of 5 stories?

No, we do not recommend using the Bogen Ceiling Speaker Assembly with S86 8" Cone for a fire alarm system. Speakers that are intended for use in a fire alarm or alert system are required to have specific UL certifications to ensure that they will work in the event of an emergency. You can use speakers that are intended for a fire alarm system for general PA applications, but you cannot use general PA speakers for a fire alarm system.
