This arrived today. I noticed it was incredibly stiff to open and move, so I put a little WD40 into the joints (which you have to do with the RODE PSA-1 to loosen it up a little). That didn't help the stiffness in any way, and after moving the boom arm up and down a couple of times, one of the poles came right out of the joint including a weird fork shaped piece that I now can't get back in. In addition, the C clamp that came with it has a nut inside the cup that chewed a hole in my desk. This is the kind of quality I'd expect from a $30 Amazon Basics mic arm, not a $100 one from Heil. Save your money, do not buy this product.

Can I use this with my sE X1 A mic and shockmount?
The Heil Sound PL2T Overhead Studio and Broadcast Boom Mount will work with the SE X1's shockmount provided you have a 5/8"-27 threaded opening. Manufacturer's often include a couple of adapters for interchangeability, but if you happen to not have the right size, you can still use the Broadcast Boom arm by getting the Auray AD-5838-B 5/8"-27 Female to 3/8"-16 adapter.

Where is it made?
Where is it made?
On the box it says, "Assembled by those who care in Fairview Heights, IL, USA!", nothing is shown on the product, so my guess is some, or all components are moulded/formed in China, and then final assembly is in the USA, as described.

The top of my desk has molding directly underneath so that a clamp-style mount doesn't work for me. My question is, can the clamp be removed to allow a direct mount (i.e. a plate with screw holes in it)?
You would require the compatible rise for it to be able to do that.

question
What is the length of each of the two arms? Joint to joint preferably. Thank you.
Both arms are approximately 18 , mesured from the center of one joint to the center of the other.
