This Pearstone Accessory Shoe Adapter has a threaded 1/4"-20 stud on the top and a "cold" male flash shoe on the bottom. In addition, the bottom of this adapter also features a 1/4"-20 threaded female socket.

This handy little adapter allows you to mount camera accessories that only come with a 1/4"-20 socket to cameras, rigs, camera brackets, and any tripod or light stand that only feature a flash shoe. For added security, the knurled locking ring assures a tight connection to the accessory.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Handy little adapter This items does exactly what it looks like it would. It gives you a shoe mount somewhere that you need one. In my case, I use it to mount a Zoom recorder on top of a Canon 7D DSLR on a shoulder rig. While not the most practical set up, it gives me an option for tight quarters shooting or where a boom operator is not practical. Depending on how you use it, it may be difficult to align your gear because of the tight finger space. But, with a little care, you can do it. I was not able to get a super tight lock down on my gear, but then again, it probably was not meant for the way I use it. It is very small, study and handy. You just need to make sure you don't lose it. I like it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not what it might seem Thought this was all metal, however, one has completely failed (the screw parted from the base plate) and the other is failing. Looks as though there are some key synthetic parts leading to failure? I have used these to mount horizontally EX600s attached to Phottix Odin receivers. These adapters are not up to the job. Fortunately, when the failure occurred I was able to catch the 600 and Odin thereby preventing their breakage. My one star is given for the concept - not the product itself, which is a potential liability in the making. This product is only suitable for the lightest equipment - pay more which I am just about to do. I noticed someone else saying that the clamp rings loosen - I would concur. Sorry Pearstone, but you could do well to review the design of this product and, in the meantime, state a low weight limit. I am just so lucky that I didn't waste a EX600 (I have seven).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Serves basic need very well I bought this to attach my Ninja 2 to my camcorder as a basic accessory - it has 2 separate screws/dials to secure the unit to the hotshoe and a monitor or another accessory. The dials are easy to turn and provide a very secure grip to the base and the accessory. I wish they included a ball head as well into the unit to allow for some degree of tilting - without it, the accessory is always at right angles to the camcorder and this can be problem if your accessory is a monitor, because you would have to bend or raise for a good view.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Useful Little Guy This came in a zoom h4n kit I bought. I use this to mount the h4n recorder on top of my Canon T2i (550D) to record live performances. This little guy does its job. My only concern is that there's no way to really secure it to the top of my camera, I'm always afraid it's going to slip off, considering the h4n is rather heavy thing to be on top of my t2i. Also, several times after screwing this onto my h4n and mounting it onto my t2i, I realized the h4n was crooked, it's parallel to the ground, but kind of faces toward the left or right of my t2i and not straight ahead. Maybe I didn't screw it on right or something but it's kind of annoying. Doesn't seem to affect the quality of the sound majorly though.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Works, just not well For very light accessories this will do the job, barely. I'm using it to hold a Zoom H1 recorder on a DSLR and the threads seem just a tad tight. The locking ring doesn't have any sort of gripping material so it tends to loosen easily and seems a bit loose on the thread so it wobbles as you lock. For light things it will do the job just check frequently.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple, durable, hard to fully secure This is a very simple, all metal, anodised adapter with three parts: the shoe mount with its threaded column, the lower screw piece to lock into the hotshoe and the upper screw piece to lock into the tripod mount. The shoe mount and its attendant screw work fine, fitting the hotshoe well. However, the tripod mount screw piece has a design flaw. Contrary to some reports I found plenty of room between the top of my Nikon D300s and the bottom of the Tascam DR-40 I was mounting to it, so accessing the two screws to tighten them was easy. What was difficult was sufficiently tightening the upper screw against the tripod socket so that the DR-40 couldn't swivel around. The smooth, metal upper surface of the adapter doesn't lock well against the smooth plastic of the DR-40 and requires substantial tightening to ensure the DR-40 stays still. One could blame this on the DR-40's design, but this adapters design exacerbates the problem. Apart from that, I'm impressed with the solid build, compact size, and light weight, and I expect this to last forever. Not cheap, though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from low profile and snug fit Let's be honest with ourselves, audio recording units such as the Zoom H4N looks gnarly attached to the top of a DSLR. The best you can do is minimize the profile. This shoe adapter is about a small as they come. And it fits super snug. Here's a tip. Tighten the tightening screws with your recording unit about 45 degrees off of center. Then, once the adapter is tightened, screw the unit straight to get a rock solid hold.
