    Canon TL-H58 reviews

    TL-H58 Tele-Converter Lens (1.5x) is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bringing It Closer I had been wanting to increase the telephoto on my XF100 for sometime. I finally ordered this lense and am very pleased with the results that I have been getting from the lense. Everything I have shot both in low light and high light has come out perfect. Having read some of the other reviews everyone seems to talk about the vignette that the lense has if you zoom-out. But I actually have found that I like this aspect and can create a focal vignette just by pulling the zoom out. The lense is strictly to be used by someone who wants to seek out the long distance shot and bring it in close. So it does the job very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Tele Converter for Canon HFG10 Very easy to use. It srews on over the Lens of the camera. In the camera menu system you set the adaptor lens type to Tele Converter. I used it to shoot over and from behind a large crowd area, and in a theater hall. The picture quality while using this is excellent. Nothing matches a Canon product quite like another Canon product. I couldn't figure out if there's a way to lock the zoom range in the camera so that when you zoom out you don't accidentally see the edges of the converter though... if that's even possible. Also, it requires it's own size filters.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great! This lens is as clear as you would expect from Cannon. Very nice. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is there is no hood for it and a 2x would be better. Maybe it's 1.5 because the optics are better. It also as expected vignettes when you pull out enough. Great if you are always more than half way zoomed in like sports or stage. It is Cannon clear. I would prefer this over the aftermarket 2x. I use it on a Cannon XF100. The XF100 is a very nice camera but only has a 10x zoom and the dig zoom is not an option for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Quality But . . . This teleconverter has an excellent quality. If the subject is close to the lens it even adds a little contrast. When zoomed out it does not cover the whole sensor but who cares: no one will use it for wide shots. But do you really need it? I think 1.5x is not enough for reasonable difference. I shot some very far subjects with and without it and I did not notice a serious difference in details (while shooting without it I added some digital zoom). I have Canon Vixia HF S10 and with its 1.7x multiplier I get everything very close. And also, on such big zooms you cannot get very contrasty and sharp pictures because of the atmosphere as I guess, so it doesn't make sense to zoom more and more. Anyway, I am very happy I have this lens as I wanted to have the complete set of accessory shoe. I have not checked it with the moon yet. Here maybe it will add lots of details.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Essential for novice filmmakers. Recently bought this lens to achieve a depth of field effect on my consumer grade Canon Vixia HFS20. In combination with Manuel focus, and the Zoom functions of the camera, as well as the handy Cinema mode on the camcorder, you can get a great cinema like depth perception that I have not seen on even professional grade camcorders.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good lens but less than perfect design. I use the product for outdoor location shots with a tripod. The product features excellent optics. The problem I have with both the Canon wide-angle and tele converter lens is that there are no threads for filters and no sunshade.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great 1.5x 58mm Telephoto Converter lens Compatible with my Canon Vixiia hf s21. Screws right on. Couldn't be any easier to use. I primarily use this lens when shooting people from far away with a wireless mic. Great lens quality. Very durable. Shooting medium shots from further away with this lens creates a shallow focus that gives a cinematic feel to the image. When fully zoomed, the image can get a bit shaky. I use a monopod to reduce hand shake and turn also turn on the dynamic stabilization on my camcorder.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Worth it. Purchased a Cannon xf105 camera. Great camera but lens only having 10x was useless. This camera is for our church and with the length of the church a 20x lens is important. Can't believe a camera in this price range didn't offer a 20x lens. BH Photo recommended this cannon screw on lens to make the camera close to 20x with a 1.7x lens. Zoom in is fine but when you zoom out to get wider shot you get this telescope tunnel effect. This is really bad. If you mistakenly zoom out to far your shot is ruined. Don't Buy This Lens Or the camera if you need a 20x lens.
