  • 1Description

Galleries, museums, photographers, artists, archivists, and decorators will appreciate this 25 pack of 11 x 14" 2-Ply Pearl White Conservation Mat Boards from Archival Methods. Each board is made of alpha-cellulose pulp from purified wood fiber. An economical alternative to cotton pulp boards, Conservation boards share similar surface and cutting characteristics. Purified wood fiber is recognized as being safe to use with paper artwork, photographs, and documents. For archival use, the boards are acid- and lignin-free with alkaline or neutral sizing. In addition the boards are buffered with calcium carbonate for added protection and longer life and made without optical brightening agents. The pearl white color is characterized by a warmer tonality than bright white museum board and is less yellow than antique white.

2-Ply Pearl White Conservation Mat Board (11 x 14", 25 Boards) is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good product but poor packaging Tough to rate this one. The boards themselves are excellent, perfect size and consistent in size. Unfortunately, the package of 25 only came with 23 boards. I really needed 25, but luckily my neighbor had a couple of larger ones we cut down. Would I purchase them again? Probably not. I'm sure my package was a fluke, but ordering on line makes it tough to go back to the store for two more boards, and I don't expect B&H to send me two boards - that just does not make sense. I'll purchase these locally next time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Product, Just Be Sure of Thickness I ordered this pack as well as the 4-ply version for window matting. I thought I'd use the 2-ply for mounting the photo and the 4-ply for cutting the window. The goal was to save money. It turns out this is much thinner than I anticipated. The 4-ply seems to be the standard size. So if you are looking for thin mat board then this is the stuff. If you need standard thickness go with the 4-ply. Otherwise, it is great and saves so much time rather than buying large sheets and cutting down.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent Boards I ordered these in a rush to finish a photo project, and they arrived right on time. When I opened the box, the boards were slightly bent/curved and I could not get them to stay flat no matter how much I bent them the other way. However, this is probably just a shipping issue. The boards weren't as thick as I hoped they would be, but they got the job done and the photos stayed mounted onto the board without any problems. Also, the color of the boards are a bit off-white.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect Mat Board I bought this mat board to use for my college photography class final. It was exactly what I was looking for. The color is off-white, which was exactly what I wanted. The only problem I had with this product is that the board curled a little during shipping, but the problem was easy fixed by placing a couple heavy books on the board overnight. All-in-all I would buy this product again and recommend it to anyone in the market!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saves $ This is good quality stuff. I bought it because I was looking for a high quality, archival backing for matted images. I use 4 ply for the front, and two ply on the back for my hinged mat jobs. Pearl white is slightly off-white, but since this was used strictly for backing, it didn't bother me. It is acid-free, and that was what I was looking for. Cheaper than using 4 ply for front and back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid Product I've started to do non-virtual portfolio's again and I like to use a thin board for presentation, even in the folio sleeve. This is a good product. You are probably wondering why use an archival board? I use to use cheaper boards previously and found that they discolored after a few years. I've not had this problem with the Conservation Mat.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Warped I used this product for mounting digital images for a photography class. I liked it because the color complimented all of my pictures and i didn't have to deal with the clash of the print and the mat board. I didn't like it because when I applied heat to the board, when tacking my, it warped and bended up, making the presentation a step below.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Curl This size was okay, just barely. But I would avoid the 8 X 10. This issue is curl. I put them under weight for hours and hours. Still could not remove the curl and it makes them more difficult to work with. It's definitely more like wood than paper too.
