Photoflex OctoDome Nxt Reviews

I will not be buying Photoflex again

The build is fine. The Octodome works essentially just like it should. Here's the killer. After about a year of use, I noticed the front most panel was yellowing. I am a non-smoker who takes care of his gear. All gear is stored inside my home when not in use. ALL of my light modifiers from other companies, especially Westcott, have maintained there 'whiteness' in the fabrics. Even my Scrim-Jims have stayed color accurate. With the Photoflex yellowing, it's going to affect my color accuracy and white balance, something I can't tolerate. I am going to retire this item from my gear after less than 3 years use. By comparison, most if not all of my Westcott gear is 4 - 20 years old and still fine.

Good shape and well built with one design issue

The soft box is great in many ways... including price, however the back of the soft box is open and requires the user to place a seperate collar around the speedring. This is not a major hassle but there is a chance of light leaking if not put on neatly. Coming from other 3ft octa soft boxes I am unsure why this is needed. I also wish they manufacturers would make their bags bigger so they are not so snug needing to be packed away in a certain way to fit.
