The Benro B-3 Ballhead features a machined head with a quick release adapter that adheres to the venerable Arca-type quick release standard. With a 54mm diameter ball sphere rated to hold an impressive 66 lbs, the B-3 can handle SLR systems of any type along with any large telephoto lens, such as a 600mm f/4.
Rather than having one friction control and a complicated thumbscrew to set a minimum tension, Benro chooses the more traditional route of distinct mechanisms with lock/unlock and friction setting functions. There's also a separate lock for the panning axis, and the panning axis itself is appropriately dampened for the type of gear on the B-3.
