Trek-Tech T-Pod Mini Tripod w/ Ballhead & MagMount STAR Quick Release System
Key Features
  • Supports 9.0 lbs (4.1kg)
The Trek-Tech T-Pod Mini Tripod is a new-generation solution for on-the-go camera support, designed by Trek-Tech's staff of shooters in Portland, Oregon.  It is designed to hold equipment of up to 9 lbs, but be aware that any load rating is affected by the weight distribution of the load relative to the support base.  In practical terms the T-Pod's appropriate for modern SLR cameras with large telephoto zoom lenses with tripod collars, such as a 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6, 100-300mm f/4, 70-200mm f/2.8, or 150-500mm f/5-6.3 (it is not for a 300mm f/2.8 or larger).

The T-Pod's unflinchingly tough, and made to take a beating in the field.  It features Trek-Tech's MagMount STAR quick release ballhead, which has about the fastest connection/detachment imaginable and comes with a light duty quick release plate and a plate endowed with a rare earth magnet for extreme adhesion.

The T-Pod set consists of a legset, MagMount head, and extension pole.  You can adjust the height of the unit with the extension pole, or use the T-Pod without the extension pole in place for lower height requirements.  All of the T-Pod's parts collapse into a fitted case that's only 1.5" (3.8cm) thick.

question

Does this mini tripod have a ball head with a 1/4 inch screw. Can this unit support a Nikon D90 or D7000 with a battery pack and a 100 mm macro lens. What is the product made with?In the photos of this product, a see a lot of stuff that looks like a magnet. Is this how the camera attaches to the mini tripod?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, the Trek-Tech T-Pod Mini Tripod w/ Ballhead and MagMount STAR Quick Release System has a ball head with 1/4 -20 screw. The MagMount STAR ball head will support up to 9 pounds of camera equipment. The adapter that goes into the camera will work with a grip as long as the grip has a 1/4-20 thread. The attachments are magnetic; theere is a magnet adapter that screws into the camera, which attaches to a magnet on the ball head. Unfortunately, the manufacturer has not provided information on the the material this tripod is made from.

question

Can I use with a Nikon D90 or 7000 with grip(s) and 100 mm Tokina lens. How does this unit compare to the OBEN TT 300 quality wise?Would use for macro and portrait fully extended.
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes it can support your camera and that lens. The Trek-Tech can support nine lbs and the Oben six lbs. So the Trek-Tech is the better one for your equipment.Note that with a tripod like this you need to be careful with tipping. The tripod is top heavy when you put a camera and lens on. So it is best to not leave this tripod alone or to put a weight on one of the legs like this,Impact Empty Saddle Sandbag - 5 lb (Orange)B&H # IMSBE5O ? Mfr # SBE5Ohttp://bhpho.to/1hzepPe
