    Optoma Technology HD20 Reviews

    HD20 1700 ANSI Lumens 16:9 Projector is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 65.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great DLP HD projector I never expected the Optoma HD 20 projector to be such a wonderful performer. Once you switch it on, and after a little adjustments, the picture you see on the screen is amazing. Such clarity, life like pictures and a beautiful balance of colours and shades. One has to see it to beleive, expecially those who have been using projectors (this is my 5th projector). All the functions contained in the MENU are so precise and user friendly that a new user will fall in love with it. AND all this for an amount of less than $1000/-. I would recommend this little genei to any buyer and am sure that he/she would never regret it. Dr S Y Lew, Cuttack, India

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great little projector I had the Philips Hopper SV10 before this one, so the quality difference is absolutely astounding. After tweaking the settings I got wonderful detail and clarity, the room does need to be mostly dark though, then the picture really stands out to becomes comparable to the cinema experience. I am definately happy with this purchase. I have a blu-ray player (Philips BDP3000) that displays 1080p @ 24fps, and this is fantastic. However, when I use the standard 1080p @ 60fps, I get flashing images alternating between pixel noise and the actual image. It is not the player, I tested it on other HD displays, but I hope it is just a firmware issue (I hope one comes out soon to test). I am using an expensive high-quality AWG22 Cat2 40ft HDMI cable though. But 24fps is fortunately working perfectly for me, so I am very satisfied.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lots of problems after a year! We bought several of these units for classroom use in a film program. First Impressions: The image quality was in fact good for the price... But we found it extremely difficult to fine-tune the color to broadcast/display standards (although this makes some sense considering the price range). Later Impressions: Two of the three of our units have gone awry after one year (and less than 300 hours of use). In both cases the units lost their blue channel. We tried changing the bulbs, but this did nothing. We are simply disappointed that two of our three units have gone down after only a year (>300 hours of use).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Go for It !!!!! This is my first projector and before buying it I really did quite a bit of study about which one I should go for . My primary purpose was to watch movies on big screen and let my son play games too on bigger screen when he would want . As per my budget I shortlisted Epson 8350 and Optoma but I went for Optoma because of the size and weight which is much lesser than Epson . Let me tell you I was not dissappointed at all after this purchase . The picture quality is excellent and has multiple options for brightness, contrast etc which makes viewing a pleasure . Thank you for everyone's comments which helped me buy this and buying from B&H was excellent experience too . Go for It i would say and you would not be dissappointed. Thanks !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Unit!! Bought this projector to replace the cheap entry-level Sanyo that our builder installed (after running it to death for 4 years and procrastinating the upgrade). I installed the Optoma and powered up the system... WOW! this projector is bright, crisp and has great contrast... sort of makes my old one look like a black and white TV from the 50's. The colors are vibrant, setup was quite easy and our love for hanging out in the theater has been rekindled. For the price I don't think there's anything out there that could touch this! Would recommend to anyone who asked.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! Before I bought this product I did alot of research and went to many different places to veiw it with other much more expensive products. I decided to buy this because it was almost half the price of the compettition and I couldnt justify paying the difference for what I believe was minor quality benefit. Once I got this home my decision became very clear indeed. This is a first class projector its bright yet contrasty, very very sharp, Black Levels are good not amazing but you really have to be fussy to worry about it. handles motion brilliantly equal to my 8 yr old$ projector, it's quiet in normal mode can be abit noisy in bright mode, handles bluray, DVD and Divx bueatifully. Overall its the best thing I have bought this year

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great full hd entry iline This projector is a great compromise between price, quality and size. The smallest of the full hd 1080p projectors on the market is till amazing. I was scared of the rainbow effect but the x4 wheel really helps. I still notice the red green and blue rainbow on some specific situation but you really have to be looking for it and I usually am sensitive to this defect. An optical lens shift would have been greatly appreciated though.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Thumbs up! What's not to like? TV and DVD's are now a whole new experience. We are thrilled. A couple things to figure out; room needs to be dark, the sound issue was a little complicated ... but once we figured it out (there is no sound; must hook up to another source), now works like a charm. We're still debating whether or not to get a screen (currently showing it on a wall). We opted for the 1080i (as opposed to the 720p) and we're glad we did. I'm sure a more expensive unit would have been even better; but I have very few complaints with this model.
