The Viewsonic PJ359w Ultra-Portable WXGA 3LCD Projector is described by its manufacturer as a "light, bright and portable projector" and we have to agree. It's light at just 3.9 pounds and it's certainly bright with an output of 2000 lumens at a 500:1 contrast ratio. It measures just 10.8 x 2.3 x 8.0 inches so it's definitely portable.
The PJ359w is not only highly portable, it's highly compatible. This projector not only accepts and projects NTSC, NTSC 4.43, PAL (B, D, G, H, I, M, N, 60) and SECAM video signals, it can do 720p, 1080i and 1080p high definition. It also displays closed captioning from video sources that provide CC. Its international auto switching power supply can handle juice from 100 V AC right up to 240 V AC.
The PJ359 is outfitted with a short-throw lens. A short throw lens, simply put, can project a larger picture at a shorter distance from the screen than a conventional lens can. They're ideal for smaller conference rooms, classrooms and living rooms.
Short throw lenses are also preferred for rear projection setups where space behind the screen is at a premium. For example, the PJ359 can project an image that measures 50 inches diagonally from just 5.2 feet away.
No matter what kind of setup you're chosen, once you've positioned the projection, just press the Keystone button on the remote control and the projector automatically corrects vertical keystone distortion (±30 degrees) due to the forward or backward setup angle of the projector. You can also adjust keystone manually using the remote.
If you need a projector this small yet powerful you may often use it on the go. If that's the case you'll really appreciate the Direct Off feature. When you're done projecting you can just unplug the projector and be on your way. You won't have to hang around waiting for the fan to cool down the lamp.
