The AC-PW10AM AC Adapter Kit for Select Sony Alpha SLR Digital Cameras from Sony is designed to supply uninterrupted power to select Alpha DSLR cameras while downloading pictures to your computer, for extended work in a studio, or while viewing images when connected to your TV or VCR. The adapter does not charge the battery.

Bought this for my A77ii. Worth getting an adapter that was made for it, as opposed to cheaping out and risk frying a $1200 camera with an aftermarket adapter. My only complaint is that the plug doesn't hang straight down; instead, it juts toward the front a little before the weight of the cable makes it droop down. I doubt it will have any long-term effect on the wear, but it just makes routing the cable for my setup a little more awkward. Other than that, it works great and has a generous cable length for my needs.

What you will get inside the box is the older model AC-PW10, and not the AC-PW10AM as it says on the box. The specs for both units are different (Power consumption is 29W in PW10AM, 24W in PW10; Max current draw is 3.0A in PW10AM, 2.5A in PW10, etc.). Please compare the specs & buy only if it works for your use case.

On reviewer complained about the orientation of the plug into the camera saying that it pointed the cable up instead of down and indicated it was a nuisance and interfered with controls and so forth. Is this true? Thanks

The camera cable outlets do not get in the way of the camera controls at all. It also does not point up or down, but actually aims the cable forward away from the camera body and along the lens barrel.
