SureFire LX2 LumaMax Reviews

IMHO the best flashlight yet.

I've carried this daily for several years. What sold me was the switch configuration, and I haven't found it on any other flashlight. Constant-on and momentary on, each available with low (15 lumen) and high (200 lumen) power. All four modes are super intuitive - no fiddling around with modes or needing to memorize how many times to mash the switch to get into a certain mode. Constant-on low serves as a long-lasting reading light in bed or at camp, or a light to use when you wake up in the middle of the night and wander around the house. Momentary on (low) lets you scan the yard at night, simply pressing harder to enable 200 lumen mode if needed. If you wake up in a groggy fog at night to an intruder, hit panic mode: mash the momentary switch hard, and it blinds said intruder with 200 lumens. Knurled tip serves as a weapon if needed at close range. Batteries last forever. Show me a better light and I'll buy it, but this one does it all. I haven't found ANY other light that provides these four modes (low constant, high constant, low momentary, high momentary) in such an intuitive, natural manner.

As a daily user of this light I can give you a great review on it. This is a replacement for the same light I had lost previously. I love everything about this light except the clip. The clip on it is very fragile and breaks frequently. The reason why I had to buy another one was because the clip broke and it ended up falling out of my cargo short pocket. I wish they would improve it. Surefire has sent me new clips quickly in the past so customer service is not an issue. Ive been through 4 or 5 clips with that last light in the last 3 to 4 years. Other than that it is a great light, very powerful with a low light setting to keep your night vision. I got a couple extra clips last time so I should be good to go as long as I dont loose it before I realize the clip is broken.

I used the LX2 LumaMex LED for light painting in the smokies recently. Also used it to walk out of the woods in the dark!

I carry the Surefire LX2 with me everyday and it has never let me down. This light was my first purchase of a Surefire product. I was hesitant about spending what seems like an awful lot of money for a flashlight. After doing some online research and watching several product reviews I went ahead with the purchase. I am rough on my gear and do not mind paying a premium for over engineered gear that does not have to be babied in order for it to last. I gave it a shot. The quality of this tool is evident as soon as it is removed from the package. The light feels solid and the performance of the beam is flawless. It must also be said that the customer service at Surefire is excellent. I broke the pocket clip due to my own negligence trying to clip it to something that was not a pocket. I was trying to clip it onto something that was too thick and the clip snapped. A quick call to Surefire and no questions asked they had a new part in the mail completely free of charge. Other than that the LX2 is tough. I use it camping, in the rain, it has been through a full wash cycle in my washing machine, banged off rocks, and still functions like it did on day one. The duel output levels are a nice feature. The low setting is what I use most. It is a good amount of light for most tasks. Good wide beam and enough light for finding objects dropped in the dark or navigating a dark path. The high setting it great for outdoor spotting. The beam illuminates a wide area and reaches extremely far. Overall I am satisfied with this light and have purchased the Surefire headlamp to complement this light. I would not hesitate to buy another Surefire product in the future if needed.

The LX2 is a fantastic light. The 15 lumen setting is nice for small stuff and the 200 lumen setting is incredibly bright! The beam is also great at a distance at night. It's a great personal security tool that is great for every day carry. The tailcap is a bonus for personal security because you don't have to click through three settings to get what you want. You can instantly activate either 15 or 200 lumens. The only thing I've heard is that you should replace the stock pocket clip because it breaks easily. You can easily go to surefire and order a replacement clip for the E2 or E2D flashlight, which is much sturdier and fits the LX2 as well. You don't have to have purhcased the LX2 to be able to get the clip. I got my clip in the mail months before I got the light so I'd have it.

Awesome light and awsome service

I bought this light to replace my Outdoorsman which I lost in the Current River in south central Missouri. This is even better than my old light. It has two levels and the high level, at 200 lumens is outstanding. The low level is just right for 90 percent of my needs. The high level really lights up the dark at quite a distance. If you get hit with it in the dark your vision is done for! This light is not inexpensive, but quality rarely is. BTW, my lost light served me well for about 7 to 8 years. It was palm beat up but kept on working. At some point I upgraded it with an LED head.

I use the flashlight regularly, have not had a problem with it even after repeated drops onto concrete. The batteries seem to last a lot longer than I would expect on the high power setting. I have also used it in wet weather with no problems.
