The more important question is what will this cable be secured to. This is generally used as an emergency precaution incase a secured object falls. I could be wrong, but as a safety precaution I wouldn't attach anything heavier than 10 lbs. The force when the item falls could very well equal more than 10lbs. I hope this helps.
