The 1212M from E-MU is a 12 input, 12 output PCI card audio/MIDI interface and hardware DSP acceleration system for Windows computers. It includes two user installable PCI cards and loads of audio software. Once installed, the cards enable you to record up to 12 tracks of audio simultaneously (using the optical ADAT, analog line, and coaxial S/PDIF inputs). An arsenal of E-MU plug-ins are included that are designed to utilize the hardware DSP accelerators on the cards.
The M1212 uses the same A/D converters found in DigiDesign's Pro Tools HD 192 interface, so you can be certain that it provides exceptional audio quality at a surprisingly low price. While it isn't compatible with Pro Tools software, the M1212 is compatible with every other major audio workstation software available. In fact, many of these applications are included with the M1212, including Sonar LE, Ableton Live Lite, Cubase LE, and Wavelab Lite. There's no shortage of included instruments and effects either. You get the Proteus X LE sound module, T-RackS EQ, Amplitube LE, and the SFX Machine.
Once you've recorded, mixed, and mastered your work with all of the included software, you can then use the Minnetonka discWelder BRONZE program to burn 24-bit 192 kHz copies of your music onto a DVD, so you can deliver your creations at the same fidelity they were made in. With all of the included software, high-quality sound capability, hardware DSP processing, and audio/MIDI inputs and outputs, the E-MU M1212 offers a lot of power at a very budget friendly price.
