How effective is this in a office/cubicle ...

How effective is this in a office/cubicle environment? The cube neighbor on the other side of the wall from me is a hummer? When he starts humming, it is disturbing, particularly when I am "in the zone" developing software.

This should do a solid job of masking humming and general low level conversation within a 10' radius. Please note, this type of system is generally meant to be wall or ceiling mounted.

How effective is this masking animal noises, like dogs barking in the background as I'm having a Skype call?

This item will not cancel out the sound of a dog barking. This item is meant primarily to make conversations under it unintelligible to others within a 15' radius.
