  • 1Description

Slim and stylish, the Canon PowerShot S90 Digital Camera offers professional imaging technologies and superior manual controls in an ultra compact form factor. The coupling of a 10 megapixel CCD sensor and Canon's latest DIGIC 4 Image Processor dramatically increases light sensitivity while reducing noise. High ISO 3200 capability makes it possible to capture critical shots even under poor lighting conditions. The bright, sharp f/2.0 lens brings dramatic depth-of-field characteristics to portraits and low light photography. Advanced Face Detection, Optical Image Stabilization, and a slew of custom scene modes keep all of your subjects looking their best.

The newly developed customizable zoom ring allows manual shooters to take control of focus, exposure, ISO, zoom, or white balance settings. With its classic design and powerful feature set, the Canon PowerShot S90 Digital Camera is the perfect choice for photo enthusiasts everywhere.

High Performance Imaging
By combining a 10 megapixel CCD sensor and Canon's advanced DIGIC 4 Image Processor, the PowerShot S90 offers dramatic low light sensitivity with minimal noise. Impressive ISO 3200 capability reduces blur and subject movement for crisp photos with spectacular sharpness and clarity.
Compact and Pocket-friendly
The S90 boasts an incredibly slim profile and lightweight body for true pocket-sized convenience. For the photographer that never wants to miss an opportunity, the S90 is the high quality camera that you can carry every day.
3.8x Optical Zoom Lens
With an equivalent zoom range of 28-105mm, Canon's 3.8x Optical Zoom Lens captures everything from sweeping landscapes to telephoto action shots with ease. An impressive f/2.0 aperture allows you to create dramatic portraits by emphasizing your subject's face and blurring the background with a soft, shallow depth-of-field.
3.0" LCD
Boasting 461,000 dots of resolution, the 3.0" Pure Color LCD screen of the S90 offers exceptional color and contrast for composing and reviewing photos and video. Advanced multi-coatings prevent visual interference from dust, scratches, and reflections.
Custom Exposure Control
The new control ring around the lens of the S90 offers precise adjustment to focus, exposure, ISO, zoom, or white balance settings. Intuitive and easy to use, the ring is fully customizable to meet your shooting preferences.
RAW File Capture
RAW files allow you to capture images without the loss of detail associated with JPEG compression. Using the included Canon software or a compatible 3rd party RAW converter, you'll enjoy complete creative control in post-production with precise manipulation of shadows, highlights, color, and other image elements.

Canon S90 Reviews

PowerShot S90 Digital Camera is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 345.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Hakc of compact camera! Maybe the best I had this camera for a week now. absolutely love it. Full manual control, even manual focus! Really handy. RAW file is very good IQ Easy to Use with two adjustable ring. F2.0 were great. with decent high ISO, I don't need flash for most of lighting condition The image quality was better than LX3, no difference than G10, G11. I don't care about HD video. So it is great camera to carry to every where. I love my D700 with 17-35mm f/2.8 lens. But I don't have with me all time. S90 is just right camera on my packet wherever I go. forget about G10, G11. Make LX3 owner envy. This is cheaper than those, Same IQ. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Compact Out There I bought this camera to carry around all the time instead of lugging my EOS 50D around. I chose this model over the G11 because of its smaller size and faster f/2.0 lens. For a compact, this camera performs wonderfully, producing sharp, satisfactory images all the way up to ISO 1600. Turning off sounds and the focus assist beam makes taking discrete candids a pleasure - this model is extremely quiet. Controls are laid out well and are completely customizable. The only downside is at full zoom the lens slows down to f/4.9. Nonetheless, it's a must-have for the serious photographer in need of a small compact. I would buy it again and again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid Build IQ wise overall is good! though still got some Noise at base ISO 80. Nice LCD, focusing ring. Solid build. Sharp. DPP autocorrects lens distortion right away. MADE IN JAPAN Cons: CANON hear this!!! Your s90 Control-Dial ring is always on the way, you can messed up the settings pretty easily especially in P-mode were Exposure compensation is permanent.-- just one slide of your fingers you'll ruin the exposure. Give us a new firmware update were you can lock the settings or next time make an additional lock or hold switch or make the control dial stiff with some resistance. SHUTTER BUTTON is little bit far from the edge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not bad for a little guy So I just got a new little point-and-shoot camera to replace my G9. Over all it really doesn't blow my mind because the sensor is so small. But that little thing has improved quite a bit over my G9: * better range * better color * better contrast * better tone * super small * I love the new front ring (Mine is set to make quick ISO settings) * back ring is just how it should be (I use mine for +- expose settings) * It's small but still shoot in raw * Usable ISO (shoot it up to 1000 ISO and have it look good) * 2.0 lens (It's only OK at 2.0, but good at 4.0ish)I put some sample images up at:@

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great little camera, with caveats I own a Panasonic Lumix LX3 as well, and in my opinion, this camera is the Lumix's closest (if not its only) competition. Images from the Lumix's Leica lens seems to be sharper across the range, but the Macro ability of the Lumix is FAR superior to the Canon. The Lumix also seems to be more solidly built. Where the Canon excels: 1, Great form factor: tiny for a camera that sports a f/2.0 lens. Much smaller and pocketable than the Lumix; 2, Innovative front wheel dial that lets you control aperture, shutter speed or focus. 3, More usable zoom range. Ergonomic gaffe on the Canon: A very loose wheel dial on the back of the camera. I use aperture priority and the wheel dial on the back controls the exposure bias. The wheel is so loose that it is easy to change the exposure settings accidentally.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pro Grade Small Package Excellent start up time and shot to shot recycle time - even with flash. Nearly all the options an advanced photographer could ask for while giving the beginner a great unit to grow into. Out of the box it's Auto-Aim-Shoot. I like the ring control around the lens for SLR-like zoom control. Although I'm a Nikon SLR user, no one beats Canon in this format. If you want great picture quality and amazing low light capability (simple amazing for this lens) just buy this camera. No HD movies but still very very good quality. Flash pop-up is a bit inconvenient but helps (a little) with red eye. Easy to have your finger over it as it tries to deploy. Overall a great value in a powerful package.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Low Light Pictures I bought this camera specifically to take pictures of acoustic guitars which have highly reflective gloss finishes. Using a flash is out of the question, and even indirect lighting is difficult to handle. Fortunately, the Cannon S90 camera produces sharp resolution, color-true pictures even in extremely low light which is exactly what I was looking for. Taking pictures of my guitars for posting on my website is now much easier and the quality is significantly better than my prior digital camera. I'm very happy with the Cannon. It's an excellent all round camera, easy to use, and one which I'll keep for a long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most Exciting Small Camera I've Seen I carried the S90 in my pocket on a recent trip to New York. I had my DSLR in a shoulder bag and never used it.....it wasn't needed. The S90 takes clear, crisp pictures in low light (think subway platform) as well as instantly snapping street scenes. The programmable ring around the lens is terrific. I have mine set for ISO and found myself using Program as much as manual, especially for 'quick grab' shots. Beacuse the camera also shoots RAW, it allows later tweaking for anything you don't think is perfect. This camera will go with me everywhere.
