VariZoom VZ-AV/LANC Overview

The VariZoom VZ-AV/LANC adapter cable allows you to connect 2.5mm LANC VariZoom lens control devices (such as the Stealth LX, Rock LE, and Pro-L) to Sony Handycams that have an A/V remote terminal instead of LANC input. One end of the cable features a 2.5mm LANC connector that plugs into the optional lens controller, and the other end plugs into your camcorder's A/V remote terminal.

Was hoping this cable would allow me to use my VZ-Rock Varizoom controller with my Sony CX580V camcorder's A/V R port. It plugs into both devices ok but does not work, only giving off a flashing red light on the Varizoom controller.

no it will not. This is designed for older Sony consumer camcorders.

LANC specifies a 2.5 mm plug. Is this really 3.5 mm as you state, i.e. not a LANC connecor, or is it just a typo?

I wish to control a Vixia HF G30 with a Lanc miniplug port from a Sony zoom controller with a Sony Mini Audio Video cable plug. Do you have anything that will work?. I see that you have cable to go from land to Sony AV mini plug but I wish to do the reverse. Mike.

I am using this VariZoom adapter to go from a SONY CX-160 camcorder with an AV connector to my SONY LANC remote control model RM 870 tripod and it works works perfectly allowing smooth variable speed zoom control. It is far superior to the very touchy SONY RM-AV2 remote which was designed for the camera. I suggest you buy the VariZoom adapter cord from B&H. If it works, you're golden. If it doesn't work, return it immediately with an explanation. I have been buying from with B&H for over 20 years and never had a problem.
