Sony VPL-ES7 Data Projector
Key Features
  • 2000 ANSI Lumens
  • 350:1 Contrast Ratio
  • SVGA (800 x 600) Native Resolution
  • 3LCD Projection System
The SVGA resolution Sony VPL-ES7 is, as the company likes to say, "An entry level projector in name and price only." After you take a look at it we think you'll agree.

This is a fully featured 2000 ANSI lumens 350:1 contrast ratio projector. Its 0.63" 3LCD imaging panels (the part that creates the image) delivers sharper and brighter images with superior grayscale detail. Smooth, seamless color combined with an unparalleled grayscale range delivers incredible detail to every image displayed by the VPL-ES7.

The VPL-ES7 also has the international credentials you've come to expect in more expensive projectors. It's got a world-ready 100 to 240 volt 50/60 Hz power supply. It can handle NTSC, NTSC 4.43, PAL, PAL-M, PAL-N, PAL-60 and SECAM video signals. And it has a 17 language onscreen display (OSD). The VPL-ES7 also decodes and displaysclosed-captioning information from programming that provides it, benefiting those in your audience with hearing impairment. It helps people whose native language isn't English.

This projector can also handle 720/60p, 720/50p, 1080/60i and 1080/50i high definition signals. (The "50" variants are used mostly in video production.)

Although Sony doesn't bill the VPL-ES7 as a "short throw" projector it can still create a pretty big picture in a pretty tight space. At a distance of just 7.5 feet it can project an image that measures 80 inches across diagonally.

Although you can permanently mount the VPL-ES7 if you present on the move you'll appreciate its Off & Go feature. Instead of waiting around for the fan to cool down the lamp you can just turn the projector off, unplug it from the wall socket and be on your way.

On the other hand, in a permanent installation you'll appreciate the double physical security of a Kensington slot for an optional Kensington lock and security bar through which you thread an optional steel cable. This projector can do a lot of things but once you've secured it, one thing it won't be doing is "walking away."

In addition to taking advantage of its physical security measures you can password protect projector operation and also prevent deliberate or inadvertent changes to the projector's settings.

2000 ANSI Lumens and a 350:1 Contrast Ratio
A great combination for vivid pictures you wouldn't expect in a projector this affordable.
3LCD Projection Offers Amazing Color Performance
The VPL-ES7 adopts the 3LCD projection system that uses three LCD panels. This system allows the projector to present bright and natural images. It provides high light transmission and excellent color reproduction with high color light output. It also provides smooth gradients in dark areas, and even helps prevent color breakup or the rainbow effect.
Short Projection Distance
The VPL-ES7 comes equipped with a short focal length lens, which makes it possible to project large images from a short distance. For example, an 80-inch diagonal image can be projected from a distance of about 7.5 feet
Closed Captioning Includes Your Entire Audience
Closed Captioning enables your entire audience to follow along when you're projecting from sources that provide it. It also comes in handy when presenting to people learning English as a second language and whenever you're projecting in a noisy environment.
Off & Go
Once you've completed a presentation you can move the VPL-ES7 to the next location immediately by simply turning the projector off and unplugging the AC power cord. There's no need to wait for the fan to turn off.
Security to Protect Your Investment
The VPL-ES7 can be password-protected against unauthorized use and a control panel key lock procedure prevents deliberate or accidental changes to the projector's setting via the control panel. For physical security there's both a security bar through which an optional steel cable can be threaded and a Kensington slot for an optional Kensington compatible lock.
Unique Body Design
The VPL-ES7 adopts a unique design with a body shape that broadens towards the front. In addition, the VPL-ES7 projects images upward towards the screen so it requires minimal tilt adjustment.
Input Flexibility (Multiscan Converter)
The VPL-ES7 accepts a wide variety of video input signals from standard definition (SD) to high definition (HD). These include composite, S-Video (Y/C), and analog RGB/component via the HD D-sub 15-pin jack. In addition, the unit can accept and resize computer signals from VGA (640 x 480) up to SXGA+ (1400 x 1050).
