The Hoya 77mm HD Clear Glass Protection Filter is a wise initial investment. It helps protect your valuable investment from dust, moisture and scratches, which can lead to costly repairs. This unique filter has been designed to be extra strong against both breakage and water damage - a big benefit when it comes to protecting your expensive optics. It can repel water and is also stain resistant which will permit more light to reach your sensor/film.

Multi-coated to minimize reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting.

If desired it can be left on the lens at all times for protection
4x the breaking strength in ANSI standardized testing - rated against steel balls of varying size and weight dropped from a height of 50" onto the glass

    Hoya XHD77PROTEC reviews

77mm Hoya HD Clear Protection Glass Filter is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 47.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely strong glass The Hoya HD Clear filters are the only filters I'll buy from now on. I have owned two Nikon clear filters, and both shattered with just a short drop, once just by sitting down my camera bag. So I switched to the Hoya HD clear filters. Yesterday I managed to drop my Nikon 24-120VR about three feet directly onto a paved parking lot. The lens had a Hoya HD filter on it. The lens managed to hit on the corner of the filter. The only damage was a small indentation in the side of the filter, but it's still completely usable, and my lens was completely unmarked. I've also never had any issues keeping dust off the filters, in fact they clean easier than any of my other filters. I can't recommend these filters enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved a Lens I purchased one of these filters a few years back and put it on a Nikkor 24-70mm. I had a camera bag zipper split open on my last trip, and the lens fell onto concrete, impact was front edge. The polarizer on the front was all broken up yet the Hoya HD Protector was still solid. I had a polarizer break once before and the glass scratched the front of the lens. The glass on the HD Protector is so strong it also protected the lens threads from being damaged. Sure glad I spend the$ to protect a $2000 lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product Great multi-coated protective filter to avoid light reflection from the main lens back into the filter and then into the sensor. Though UV and haze is not much an issue for digital sensor, it is nice to know that the HD glass is an extra strong glass material which protects the front of the lens for any accidental contact. It is a very clear glass which is seems almost invisible when looking at the filter itself. Lens cap and additional polarized filter fits well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Use Protection I chose the clear filter for protecting my Canon L lens after a lot of reading. You may want to get the UV type. This screws in easily and is clear. It's a good value when compared to the super premium brands. This filter stays on all the time. Here's a tip: When taking your lens cap on and off, make sure you make an effort to keep the lens cap clean so when you put it back on the lens, the dust doesn't transfer to the lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hoya is a great company I have bought Hoya and B&H filters. I think that they are both very similar, but have found Clear/UV lenses that Hoya is a better value.Putting this $ filter on a $+ lens is a very smart thing to do. Save your investment. Your photos will not be degraded in any photo you take. People that say that these type of filters degrade the image are just wrong. The good thing about filters is that you can take them off. Like a lens cap, you can leave this filter on your lens, and take if off if you feel like you need too. But I don't think you will feel the need.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to clean Ordered on a Sunday and received on a Thursday. I wished the mail package would be sturdier, like a box, and not just a padded envelope. The filter box got crumpled edges when I opened it. The good thing was the filter was inside a hard case. It was also very easy to clean. I used an ordinary microfiber cloth to clean it after blowing air onto it. I also noticed that the filter wasn't that sparkling clean. That's why I had to clean it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It actually makes a diference I was always skeptical about buying something this pricey compared to other cheaper brands. It is so easy to clean. I tested it out in the snow, and it rarely accumulated water drops and was easy to wipe off and not smear. I'm very happy with the build quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Filter. I purchased this filter to use on my Canon 24-70 f/2.8L lens. Obviously I want a high quality filter to protect my lens outdoors in windy weather. (I don't use it indoors or on calm days)
