    Koss QZ99 reviews

QZ99 Around-Ear Noise Isolating Headphones is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 31.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Listen to MP3s while using power tools I bought these headphones mainly so that I could listen to my MP3 player while using power tools. They are great for that purpose. The passive hearing protection function is up to the task of attenuating chain saw noises etc. (This is not an active noise reduction headphone.) The sound quality is good. The mono/stereo switch allows use of mono sources too (such as AM radio, communications equipment, etc.) which would otherwise be audible in only one ear. The cable is a bit long. To avoid getting the cable caught in power tools it is important to coil it up, wrap it with a rubber band, or some other means. Highly recommended for good sound quality in a noisy environment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great noise isolation I've been using these headphones in very loud concert videos shoots, in situations it's almost impossible to hear your audio feed. They work great, better than expected. They could also help protect your hearing if shooting video near loud speakers. They are a little big, but I have a separate audio/cable bag I bring with me almost everywhere. I can squeeze them in my camera bag if I have to though. The volume control on the headset is very nice to have, as well as the mono/stereo switch. Very solid headphones, and guaranteed for a lifetime.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Isolation If you're looking for great sound, move along. If you are looking for sound isolation (not noise cancelling), and so-so sound, you've come to the right place. I use these in my yard when I run power equipment. They work great for that, yet the volume is way too low. Would I use them while listening to vinyl? Not likely. One complaint I do have is that the cord may be a little long. I have to tuck it in my shirt while using it. But it's of high quality, so it's a trade off. Maybe next time they could improve on the drivers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from QZ99 review - excellent Using these for ham radio in noisy outdoor portable conditions. These are very ruggedly constructed headphones with a metal headband very much like the old Pro 4A and Pro 4AA. Sound quality is very good, neither bassy nor tinny, very flat response to my ear. I would use these for music. As far as sound isolation, these are as effective as the best industrial type hearing protection I have worn, better than most, at least equal to or better than the best. The price is excellent, a great value.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sturdy, quiet & reasonable sound I was looking for something to use with my laptop and iTunes while my family was watching TV, or while sitting alone. Sturdy and very quiet, reasonable sound. Adjustable to fit my head and ears and comfortable, but are a bit heavy - but that goes along with sturdy. I just got them so I cannot comment on longevity of service yet. Inexpensive enough to make it a reasonable buy. I am satisfied. Only complaint is that they are a bit heavy, but not really uncomfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from too good to be true I attended to use this product to hear a little bit better when editing my independent projects for film but from how amazing it isolates the noise, i just started listening to music with it and it sounds so much better when then it just coming out of my laptop. This was definitely worth the purchase but the only down side too it is that it gets uncomfortable after awhile and might put some pressure around your ear but i find taking it off every 10 minutes helps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from heavy, but good sound and VERY durable i use these for my commute. they are clearly designed for studio recording use, but they have noise isolation, so even when i'm not listening to music, i still don't hear noise on the train. they need a bit of stretching, but are pretty comfortable. a bit heavy for most people, but i like the weight, it makes them feel substantial. the cable stood up to my one year old biting it, very strong. and while its not necessary for music enjoyment, the mono/stereo switch is fun to play with and gives you an appreciation of what goes into making a track.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from these are great! I was looking for old school headphones tired of on ear, can't do ear buds. These are exactly what i was looking for, crawl into them and just vanish with your tunes! I used Koss I think they were called 4x no sound got in from the outside. these do that. The price was a little bit cheaper than what I paid 35 years ago. I mostly listen to jazz (be bop) good frequency response, and built to last. imho of course
