This rail is a work of jewel-like beauty and precision. I bought it knowing I could get something serviceable for far less, because I like supporting an American company that offers stellar design and workmanship of the kind exemplified by the rail and my Acratech GP ballhead. Their customer service is also stellar. No regrets at all.

question

Will this work with the Manfrotto 468MGRC2 Head and RC2 quick release system? Will I need additional adapter devices to fit my current Manfrotto setup?thank you.
Asked by: Anonymous
In order to use this product with the Manfrotto 468MGRC2 and the RC2 quick release systemm, you would need an adapter like this one: B&H # KISQRC3157, http://bhpho.to/1dkInlr. This will accept the Arca style connection on the rail.

question

Why is this nodal slide so expensive? Are the features worth the price over a cheaper nodal slide (e.g. Desmond)
Asked by: Anonymous
When working in a professional environment, you want the gear to be the best quality, regardless of the cost. Reliability, precision, ease and pleasure of use are more important than cost. In a less stringent environment where the gear and the user are not stressed, more affordable substitutes work perfectly well. My suggestion is go with the best gear you can comfortably afford.

Can I use this Acratech Nodal Rail to replace the quick release plate of the Manfrotto 612 Nitrotech Fluid Video Head?
Asked by: Edwin
Our Nodal Rail is Arca-Swiss compatible. I have reviewed Manfortto's specifications and they do NOT say anywhere that the 612 Nitrotech is Acra-Swiss Compatible. I do not have a 612 Nitrotech to verify, so I can only go with the information I see on Manrotto's site. So unless you can determine that the 612 NItrotech is Arca-Swiss compatible, I would otherwise say no.

If I'm using an Acratech panoramic head, do I need this rail for telephoto lens that have their own mounting foot, or do I need just a stripped own rail with number scale that mounts directly to the lens? What rail length would work best for a Canon 100-500L / R5 combo?
Asked by: Stephen
Using an actual nodal rail like the Acratech Nodal Rail with Level Quick Release Clamp would be the simplest way to do that.

Looking for a Nodal rail for using with both ...

Looking for a Nodal rail for using with both collared and without collar on a Sony A7IV with Sigma 100-400 mm DGDN - lens-sometimes using with lens collar and sometimes with L- Bracket on camera. So would be used to balance lens. Do I need an extra arca style clamp as well. I may be using with FLM ballhead or Wimberley MH-100 Monogimbal head. Can this rail be used for macro as well with the Sigma 105mm macro DGDn lens as well. If not what is a better option?

Can the clamp be removed from the rail so that ...

Can the clamp be removed from the rail so that rail can be used indepedently?
Asked by: RANDALL
No, the clamp cannot be used independently on another device. There are pins on the bottom of the clamp that locate into holes used to align the clamp on the rail for a camera or a lens. You could push the dowel pins in but then the clamp would not sit right when you needed to use it as a nodal rail. You could try using it with the pins but there is no way of knowing that they will clear the stem or sit flat on another unit. The reason why we do not put the pins on the rail is because there are other items that use the same clamp with the pins for the same reason. I hope this helps. Acratech.
