Universal "L" Bracket is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from cons outweigh pros for me Pros Well made in USA Installs and releases quickly Works with all my bodies Battery compartment accessible Cons Very expensive for what it is Requires additional plate for camera (more $$$) Adds additional height between tripod head and body Unable to use wired remote in vertical position Centering the lens/sensor on the tripod is guess work No Provision for a Black Rapid type strap Clamp can not be used on other equipment because of alignment pins on bottom I wish now that I had not purchased this thing. But I'll keep it for my older bodies. Now I have to spend more $$$ for a dedicated L Bracket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very well made product I have been using it with a Sirui K20 ballhead. It's great for quickly changing from horizontal to vertical as everyone has said. The QR plate makes changing cameras a breeze. Additionally, once your camera is set up for vertical, you can drop the head into the slot and the K20 ballhead is quickly transformed to a pan/tilt/gimbal head. This trick should work on any ballhead with a slot and a panning base. I couldn't find anything relating to the size of this bracket. If anyone's curious, it is roughly five inches on each side.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This does the job for me. I have a somewhat unusual circumstance. I regularly use a Cotton Carrier (vest) to carry my DSLR camera as I walk around taking photos. It has a universal plate on the bottom that has not only the Cotton Carrier adapter, but it is also grooved to fit into Arca Swiss clamp on the top of my tripod. I wanted an L bracket to use when taking a series of Panorama images (in portrait mode). This was the only L Bracket I found that would work for me without having to remove my normal Cotton Carrier camera plate. The L-bracket is now a part of my tripod gear instead of being a part of my camera gear.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not machined properly I am trying to use the L bracket with a Really Right Stuff lever quick release plate. One leg works just fine but there is unacceptable slippage on the other. I have ordered a Acratech ball head with quick release plate hoping this will work. Under any circumstance, the width of the plate differs on each leg. I could recommend if it was machined better.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Better value than most, still mystified Although these L-brackets are very helpful in speeding the rotation of your camera on platforms that don't themselves rotate 90 degrees (true for many tripod heads, ball heads, and special sleds like those on beauty dish strobes, etc., where the lens itself does not have a ring collar, they are an excessively overpriced accessory. This one is a good option in that it's less expensive yet still sturdily built. If you have used L brackets before then you'll find the one-page, single-sided exploded view of the bracket with a photo showing it attached to a camera sufficient. But it's minimal, and shows a reinforcing rib that I finally figured was for a different model than the one I bought. For the difference, I would look at the extended model, as the information sheet made me regret I bought the one I did. Seems like it would have made more sense to have put this in the pre-sales information on the web site instead of inside the product. In the end, it seems as if it will serve its purpose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Over Priced but Works Great I have used many Arca type L brackets, both custom and universal, and this one is the best. Unlike most, it allows the camera to have the open end in either side so as not to interfere with cable access or articulated viewing screens. Well made and light weight, the only fault I can find is it's a little pricy. But then, the best usually is.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Versatile piece of kit Useful if you switch or upgrade camera bodies a lot - eliminates having to have custom L Brackets for each separate camera body. Larger than other L Brackets when attached to the camera, but for the extra flexibility, its worth it. Requires compatible standard quick release plate for the specific camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Maybe a better solution I've used L-brackets with a variety of cameras and from a variety of companies. All work well, but they all have one serious headache, if you need to access the ports on the left side of the camera, it's a pain, you need an Allen wrench to loosen them. The universal L bracket has a clamp that is repositionable, and makes it very quick to remove if you are going shooting without a tripod. I simply put a plate on the bottom of my camera. This lets me adjust the camera left or right on the bracket very quickly making it easy to use with cables for tethering. I also only need one bracket for multiple cameras, the L bracket becomes an extension of the tripod rather than an extension of the camera. That makes the camera just a touch lighter to carry. The quality of this bracket and clamp are very good, I have no complaint about them at all. The clamp can be easily adjusted left or right. That adjustment is done using a Allen wrench, but the clamp has a fair amount of travel.
