Love Acratech Products!

I have a ton of Acratech products which I use all the time. The beauty of this product is that you don't have to buy a new L-Bracket from that 'other company' every time you buy a new camera. If you want to use the Acratech L-Bracket on a different camera all you do is release the quick release on your current camera and connect the other camera to the L-Bracket QR.

It doest the job.

Instead of buying L-brackets for each of my cameras, this thing does it for all my cameras now. Great build quality. Pricey, but worth every penny.

Well built & adaptable

Another well built product from Acratech. Just got back from a week landscape trip and it performed well. No slippage or loosening. Recognize that it is a universal L bracket so the side ports may not line up perfectly, but I went this way to have the flexibility to use it on different camera bodies.

Works well

I was imitially reticent to spend this much on an L-bracket but since I was buying some new gear I decided to go for it. I am glad I did. It is solid, holds the camera firmly, and makes it so easy to change between horizontal and vertical. The center of the frame is not exactly the same when changing, but it is not that far off. Thus, reframing would be needed only in the most exacting situations.

Excellent Product

I bought this bracket to use with Nikon D7100 and D750 bodies rather than purchase separate L brackets for each body. The design, manufacturing and quality are excellent. While lightweight it's also sturdy. Paired with the Acratech GP-s Ball Head, the bracket is highly flexible and easy to use. Setup takes very little time and the bracket uses minimal space in a backpack when not in use.

Part of my kit when I am using a tripod

I have two of these L brackets, now, using them with my Panasonic G1/GH1/GH4 cameras. Especially useful when doing tripod mounted panoramics, since you can easily turn the camera for a vertical format image set. But, useful any time you want to change quickly between horizontal and vertical format with a tripod. They fit my Panasonic cameras well.

In response to complaint of RRS quick release plate

All lever quick release plates are a compromise. They sacrifice grip strength and grip range for convenience. They also do not wear well with NO adjustments. I still have one I used for years. It was retired for occasional use when it started slipping for vertical macro and astro pictures. The only thing that saved the camera and lens was I had the stop pins in the plate. (stop pins highly recommended.) Now I use a RRS screw clamp almost exclusively reserving the quick release clamp for light duty horizontal photography. This is NOT a review of the product but a response to an earlier 3 star review.

question

Would this fit a 5d mark III with a remote switch cable attached in vertical orientation?
Asked by: Jon
While it would depend on the design of the remote switch plug that you own. However, if the camera is placed toward the end of the bracket, there should be enough clearance for your remote switch to remain connected both in the horizontal and vertical orientations on your tripod head.

question

Is this L bracket perfectly square? Please confirm with an accurate steel carpenter square. Thanks.
Asked by: Anonymous
If you are referring to the base of the bracket being perfectly perpendicular to the arm of the bracket, then yes, it is perfectly square. The L-bracket is precision cut using a C.N.C. machine for accuracy purposes. While B&H does not open new products to ensure they are sold in the condition in which they were received by the manufacturer and we do not perform product testing on items before shipment to customers, if you receive the item and you are unhappy with the item's performance for any reason, do note you would be able to return or exchange the unit during our standard Return Policy period.https://bhpho.to/2bxrYlG

question

How long is the vertical arm on the Acratech Universal L Bracket? I'm trying to determine if I can use the regular bracket or I need the extended bracket on my Olympus M1 with the battery grip
Asked by: Bill M.
Hi Bill,The inside length is 4.25 in.. The length of both arms are identical measured from the inside bend. I don't have a battery grip. Does the the mounting plate attached to the bottom of the grip? If that is the case, distance shouldn't be a problem. When the camera is in the vertical orientation, there is plenty room to slide the bracket horizontally on the tripod, even with the extended height of your camera with a battery grip attached. Remember, you need an Arca Swiss plate for this mount. I hope my explanation helps. Feel free to ask a follow up question.
