    Lowepro 650 AW reviews

Magnum 650 AW Shoulder Bag is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 42.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bigger than I thought. I evidently didn't pay attention to the specs when I ordered this monster. We needed it, but I thought it was similar to the bag I had so we would be carrying two bags. Nope... just one. We have a D3, a D700, and 7 lenses in this bad boy. It also holds our cards, spare batteries, our AA battery charger with lighter adapter, and comes with a laptop case that fits in the top. It's like throwing a boat anchor over your shoulder fully loaded, but my son prefers to carry it rather than roll it because it makes him look Bad ***. We're going to use the old bag for the video camera we are getting next month.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well built. Massive! I wasn't sure which size to buy (400 or 650) so I went with the big one. It's a bit big for me but I intend to buy more gear so it's not a bad thing. Here's a list of the gear I fit in it with lots of room to spare (all Canon gear): - 6D Camera Body - 24-105 f/4.0L - 17-40 f/4.0L - 50 f/1.4 USM - 100 f/2.8L IS USM Macro - 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS USM - 580EX Flash - 430EX II Flash - ST-E2 Speedlite Transmitter It can still easily fit a 70-200 f/2.8L IS II USM, another flash, a few smaller lenses and another camera body. It's basically a massive padded suitcase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I'm Delighted In spite of the negative comments, I am very pleased by the size and overall quality of this bag. I don't intend to go hiking in the woods with it. Rather, I bought it so that I could throw everything easily in the car without having to gather up a bunch of separate containers. Right now, it's holding my Canon D50 plus five Canon lenses (including one on the camera). All the lenses, including the 300 mm f4L, fit vertically, since I'm not using the included laptop case. There's still plenty of room for accessories inside the bag, not to mention the several outside pockets. Just one small criticism: I would have liked the option to purchase the bag without the laptop case, since I don't do any tethered shooting. Other than that, I'm more than satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pro quality, long lens stays on body I chose the 650 over the 400 as both bags are too large to carry large distances. I chose the 650 as it will hold all of my gear at home and getting to a location without cramming it full and having things difficult to get too. I really like that the bag will hold a large body with a 70-200 f2.8 attached and a large body with a 100-400 attached with the hoods reversed. There is still a lot of room for other lenses, flashes, and other gear. The bottom is a rigid waterproof tray so that the bag holds its shape with the heavy equipment. The shoulder strap has an excellent pad with metal D rings and hooks. This is a very high quality product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One Word Sums it up: HUGE! First off it is well made, sturdy bag. Plenty of padding and dividers to protect and arrange equipment. I went with the large 650 for the sole purpose of when I need to carry all my equipment to avoid lugging around multiple bags. Very spacious and never a need to squeeze stuff in it. True that it can get heavy if filled up. Size not really practical as shoulder bag. I use my Magnum 250 when I carry less equipment. Great bag for consolidation of all camera equipment. I recommend it if you are looking for a large camera bag and not really planning to carry it on your shoulder.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Heaps of Room I checked out all the major brands and I think this is probably one of the larger shoulder bags on the market that suited my needs..and I needed one to carry all my gear! It has great access & easily fits 2 Canon pro bodies with drives, 80-200mm lens, 24-105mm lens, 16-35mm lens, 2 pro flash units, battery pack plus all accessories that make up a working kit. The only drawback is that fully laden its quite heavy but so would any bag with all this gear. As its one of the larger bags available its also a little cumbersome hanging off your shoulder. Plus I have no use for the 15notebook sleeve and sunshade (I use 17) which is unfortunate as it seems pretty useful. All up it works for me as my regular location bag.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is one BIG bag. I had my gear all over and wanted one large bag to consolidate everything. I tried the Magnum 400, but it was to small to hold it all. The 650 is just about right, a bit wider, deeper and taller (IF you take out the laptop sleeve.) In the front half (three sections) I've got a Nikon D300 w/battery grip, L bracket and 17-55 f/2.8 attached (lens up). There's a 70-200 f/2.8 in the middle, and a D-200 on the right w/ 18-70 attached. Back sections hold 2 SB-900's, cables, batteries, etc. There's still room in the front and side pockets for chargers, manuals, etc. I was surprised to find that I could not put a body w/ 70-200 attached without it extending past the dividers (into space occupied by laptop sleeve. It appears to be well constructed with beefy material. The bag is deep; works well with large flash, long lenses, but for small items you'll want to get some mesh ditty bags or similar to sort the small stuff. Note that this is NOT a bag to stroll about with while you photograph. I plan to use it as a master bag - I'll either transfer what I need to smaller bag(s), or take the 650 and set up a basecamp on job sites or my car. I'm not sure how often I'll use the laptop sleeve, but it has a pop-up shade for using outdoors. Minor complaints: Nice orange zipper pulls inside, but black ones on outside hard to see. The center divider has full velcro on one side, but just 2 strips on the other, which limits the front section divider placement. There are two sets of dividers that appear to have a very specific purpose (vs. the other rectangles) but I couldn't figure out exactly what they were intended for. One appears to be for putting camera in lens down with room to store underneath, but couldn't make it work for me. Conclusion: if you need a bag this big, don't hesitate.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Huge and well made Got this bag to store my collection of film cameras and spare lenses that I frequently use. It's too large to carry any real distance unless you're using a wheeled cart. My purpose for bag is simply a gear locker, nothing more and since it wasn't that much bigger than the next model down (4500?) I opted for maximum space. The lap top sleeve is a nice bonus. I could see where this bag could serve to carry a portable studio if needed. My only gripe is that there is only solid velcro along one side of the main divider which limits the ability to customize the interior. I simply substituted a Dome insert and worked around the situation to suit my needs.
