The Visual Echoes FX1 Better Beamer Flash Extender will help increase the reach of your Canon 430EZ, 199d, Nikon SB-24, SB-28, Minolta 2500, 5400 & Pentax 5000AF flashes and increase the output by about 2 to 3 f/stops. The Better Beamer is designed to be used with lenses 300mm and longer.

Included in this kit is the LensCoat FlashKeeper and BeamerKeeper. These neoprene pouches will protect your flash and BeamKeeper during travel.

Visual Echoes FX1 Better Beamer for Select Mid-Size Flashes

The Visual Echos FX1 Better Beamer Flash Extender will help increase the reach of the flash and increases the flash output by about 2 to 3 f/stops. It focuses and concentrates the output of the flash into a narrow beam via the fresnel screen that gets positioned in front of the flash. This allows shooting at greater distances and shooting with smaller apertures.

The Better Beamer is designed to be used with lenses 300mm and longer, and its rugged, injection-molded plastic side supports are attached to the flash head by a sturdy elastic "hook-and-loop" band. The rigid supports hold the Fresnel screen in place in both horizontal and vertical formats. Just weighs 2 1/2 oz.

The FX1 version will fit many mid-size flash heads, e.g. Canon 430EZ, 199d, Nikon SB-24 and SB-28, Minolta 2500 and 5400, and Pentax 5000AF. The measurement between the two attachment flaps is 1 9/16".

Excellent for wildlife and birding photography, where long-distance fill-flash is often required, especially with a bright sunlight background. The use of fill flash opens up the shadows without the appearance that a flash was used.
When used with TTL flash metering, exposure is automatically set by the camera and flash, and no special compensation is required.
Reduces the drain on battery power by two-thirds.

LensCoat BeamerKeeper Pouch for Better Beamer (Digital Camo)

The LensCoat BeamerKeeper is a neoprene bag fitted to organize, protect, and carry your Better Beamer Flash Extender. It allows you to store your collapsed Better Beamer flash arms and fresnel lens in this protective pouch during travel and also during transport in to the field. A 1" belt loop allows you to connect the BeamerKeeper to your belt or to a belt system, and the bag also includes a heavy duty snap hood to clip onto your belt, jacket, or camera bag.

Digital Camo is an advanced computer generated camouflage pattern. It is modeled after the U.S. Army's standard-issue ACU pattern, which provides a pixelated pattern that maximizes visual break up. The pattern, constructed from small rectangular pixels of color, mimics naturally occurring dappled textures and rough boundaries.

Visual Echoes FX1 Reviews

A Must Have For Birders

A simple piece of equipment that does exactly what it is supposed to do, extend your flash range by 2-2.5 times. Essential for throwing fill light at birds in the canopy of trees to overcome shadows and bring out detail. Allows smaller apertures for greater depth of field, lower ISO for less digital noise. Would be a solid 5-stars if it didn't need a little messing with to get it aimed precisely.

FX1 Better Beamer, mighty fine!

I use the beamer mostly on my 400mm for photographing birds in low light and in shadows. It does extend the range of your flash and is easy to use. I had actually built one before but it was hard to transport on trips as it did not come apart. This one comes apart very easily and can be slipped into a camera bag or backpack which is very nice for transporting it on trips. They do take some adjusting to get them placed just right on the external flash to get the light to strike your subject properly. One item I think could be built better is the Velcro strips on the front that hold the magnifying lenses. It does not stay fastened real well and comes undone at times, but all in all it is a great product and would recommend it to any one.
