Apple Boxes are a staple on any film set. Common uses include elevating electrical connections in wet conditions, leveling stands and lighting fixtures and step-stool applications. Adding a wall plate to an Apple Box creates a low-angle light fixture mount and they often serve as makeshift seating for talent.
Available in a variety of sizes, the most common being Full, Half, Quarter and Pancake (or Eighth), their height ranges from 8" for the Full down to 1" for the Pancake. They are manufactured to exacting standards to ensure that stacking 2 Half Apple boxes equal 1 Full box and 2 Quarter boxes equal 1 Half Apple Box, etc.
