The Hoya 82mm Ultraviolet UV (C) Haze Filter is a wise initial investment. It helps protect your valuable investment from dust, moisture, and scratches, which can lead to costly repairs. The "C" on the filter ring designates Hoya's thinner design for this filter. This filter has its UV properties in the multi-coating. The result is an average light transmission of over 97% giving sharp contrast and well balanced color. Hoya HMC filters are recommended for enhancing the performance of today's multi-coated digital lenses. It is multi-coated to minimize reflections and reduce flare and ghosting.

Good choice for digital photography
If desired it can be left on the lens at all times for protection
Haze filters provide additional benefits of correction for Ultraviolet(UV) light which can register on film and videotape as a bluish cast and can obscure distant details
Ultraviolet filters allow you to correct for the UV effect to varying degrees

82mm Ultraviolet UV (C) Haze Multi-Coated Filter is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 96.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY!! This filter is a terrible piece of equipment. Smudges are impossible to remove (using either a micro-fiber cloth or a LensPen). After a few minutes of cleaning, it develops a faint cloudy haze on both sides of the filter. Certain little spots on the coating (seen in glare) couldn't be removed at all. It also attracts dust. I have not had this problem with Canon or B+W filters. In addition to this problem, the thin metal ring that holds the glass in the outer ring/threads had a bend in it that allowed the glass to not stay in place. The glass would rattle and rotate when being cleaned. Avoid this product....

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wasn't happy I ordered one of these to put on a Canon 16-35mm lens. When I opened the lens box, the inner c-ring bounced out, and the glass was loose from the ring. B&H were awesome, and sent me a replacement immediately. The second filter had the same issue. I found with the second one, that I could snap the c-ring back into the filter to hold the glass. It just seemed flimsy and cheap to me. I wasn't willing to put something like this on a $1500 lens. I ended up ordering a higher quality filter from B+W. It was twice the money but seemed twice the quality when I received it. I still gave it three stars, because if I had a less expensive lens, and it had come with the c-ring snapped in place, I probably would have been okay with it. 5-stars to how B&H handled the exchange.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for wedding! Hoya UV (C) are pretty good for their price. I can't see any noticeable difference in image quality which is good. The built quality is not as high as more expansive brands like B+W, but for almost 1/5 of the price it's pretty good. Much better than generic ones or even Canons. I'm using them only for protection. I'm a wedding videographer and have one of these on all of my 7 lenses. It worrks it purposes, which is keeping the lens safe, and make my life easier by not worrying about putting lens caps on and off and inevetibly loose them once in a while. And they're cheap... If I wanted to put B+W on all my lenses I would have to pay the price of a L lens! But these are so affordable I can buy the entire set for the price of one B+W!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from this is a good filter I use this filter on my 16mm to 35mm Canon lens and my pictures are sharp and there is no vignetting even at 16mm...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what I bought it for! Sits on 16-35 to protect and not affect quality

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As always a great Hoya product! I always buy Hoya filters as they are quality products, don't break the bank (price wise), and they always perform well. I use them on all my lenses as I've come to really rely on them. I am a firm believer of keeping a filter on a lens, if for nothing else but to protect the glass on the lens itself. Some may argue the that point but everyone has their opinions.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lens Cap Problems It is a filter, and works as a filter fine. BUT for some reason the supplied Canon lens cap for the 16-35 2.8 L (which I got the filter for) doesn't want to fit perfectly onto the filter! It stays on, but the threads are still visible and it has caused the cap to fall off a few times.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Protection I always use Hoya filters on all my lenses. They are well priced and great quality. I have never had any problems with these and as we all know...protection...protection...protection. Specially if you use the L series glass.
