Tamron SP 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di II VC LD Aspher... Overview

Tamron's SP AF17-50mm F/2.8 XR Di II VC LD Aspherical (IF) is a high-speed, wide-to-moderate-telephoto zoom lens designed for Nikon DSLR cameras with smaller sensors. It covers the very popular 17-50mm focal length range (equivalent to 26-78mm in the full-frame 35mm format) making it extremely versatile. The lens delivers impressive sharpness and striking contrast over its entire focal length and aperture range. A maximum aperture of f/2.8 delivers images enhanced by shallow depth-of-field, and smooth, natural transitions in out-of-focus areas of the image. Additionally, this lens carries a 6-Year Tamron Limited Warranty (U.S.A. only)

Di II Lenses are designed for exclusive use on digital cameras with smaller-size imagers. These lenses are not designed for conventional cameras or digital cameras with image sensors larger than APS-C size (24mm x 16mm).

this lens or sigma 17-50 for my nikon D3500
Asked by: andre
The Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 (https://bhpho.to/3lCmc2w) for the F-mount is an discontinued lens that was replaced by the Sigma 17-70 f/2.8-4 (https://bhpho.to/3vIVnP3). Between the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 and the new Sigma, both are sharp and versatile.Tamron has the larger constant aperture, whereas the newer Sigma has a variable aperture, slightly more range, and macro capabilities.

question

Is this lens worth the extra money compared to the non-VC version? There are plenty of reviews here, but not many customer photos...and the two that are shown don't give me much hope for this lens for twice the price of non-VC. Can someone help who has used both?
Asked by: Mike M.
VC is a matter of personal preference and personal stability. For some it is a must have, others are more stable and do not need it.
