The NEC NP3250 Professional Installation Projector is one of NEC's first-in-the-world line of stackable projectors. No, you don't stack them on top of each other. You can place up to four of them side by side in a row to project one luminously bright and perfectly aligned image. With four NP3250s that's an image that's an incredible 20,000 lumens bright! It's ideal for larger sized screens (the NP3250 can project a 500 inch image) or where there is a great deal of ambient light.
But how do you get the images to line up correctly? The Stacking Correction Tool consists of a camera that you supply (a webcam will do) and software you can download from NEC.
Each projector projects its (slightly distorted) test pattern and the camera feeds the image to your PC. The software analyzes and compensates for each projector's unique position. You only have to use the Stacking Correction Tool once as long as you keep the same setup. So the stacking function is ideal for permanent installations.
The NP3250 offers much more, however. It's network ready thanks to both an RJ45 jack for wired networks and 802.11b/g Wi-Fi for wireless networks. Each projector has its own HTTP page and a group of projectors can be managed from a single remote location. You can even have a projector email you a status report when certain events occur, like when the lamp is nearing the end of its life.
Unlike many projectors the NP3250 is backed up by a full line of five interchangeable lenses, from a 0.8:1 fixed short throw lens up to a 4.62 - 7.021:1 zoom lens. And this projector offers manual lens shift up to 50 percent vertically and 10 percent horizontally. Lens shift allows you to move the image on the screen without moving the projector.
