The INDURO GHB1 Gimbal Head is ideal for photography involving long, heavy telephoto lenses--in sports or nature photography, for instance. Working with a long lens on a standard ballhead or tilt head can be a real struggle, distracting you from the photography. The gimbal head makes the camera and lens seem almost weightless, with vertical and horizontal tracking of moving objects becoming relatively simple--a feat not possible with any other support system. An Arca-Swiss-compatible quick-release plate is included. Fits size 1 and 2 tripods.

Gravity-balanced operation provides essentially "weightless" movement and positioning for long lens/camera systems
Arca-Swiss-compatible quick-release interchangeable industry standard QR system
Oversized lock knobs provide secure locking of camera angle and rotation, even with bulky gloves

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Quality, Fast, Smooth, Simple Silky Smooth and Rock Solid. With the Induro CT-213 8X carbon fiber tripod, this is by far the best tripod/head combination for spotting scope/birding use that I've ever seen. I use a Pentax 80 mm ED scope, and will put the combination up against anything available. A $1200 scope and $800 mount that competes favorably with anything else on the market is looking more and more like a bargain. I've had people with $3000 Swarovskis on a $150 tripod look through my rig and go WOW!. I try not to giggle. Kudos to the designers and craftsmen at Induro. It is not cheap, and it is a bit heavy, but I knew that before I ordered it. ...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from simple and solid design This is my first gimbal head, purchased for a safari in Africa to support Nikon's 200-400mm howitzer lens. The side mount worked fine, and I had good range of motion on both axis. I am using this with a monopod, I found the center of gravity is not perfectly over the monopod leg because of the side mount, but after a few minutes of shooting I was used to this and had found a good balance. I liked the simple design - a friend has a Wemberly head which I think pans a little smoother but is also a lot more complicated. The Induro head is solid but not too heavy, and has oversized knobs which will also be nice for winter photography with gloves. The knobs have just the right drag for allowing the lens to pivot, but you don't have to bear down on them to lock up the lens. It seems very solid and well made, and has a nice pebbled finish for a steady hand hold.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK for small camera bodies This gimbal head is well made and is very smooth. The only problem I had was I was using it with a Canon 1D Mark III body and a Canon 100-400mm with a 1.4 extender attached. When I tried to rotate the camera up the camera would hit the base of the head at the battery compartment and only allowed a very shallow angle of up tilt. Being an Avian photographer this simply will not work for me but might be ok for sports or for other types of wildlife photography or if you have a smaller body with no battery grip attached.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from As I expected... I have a good quality pan/tilt head and tripod but this head is so much easier to set up and adjust. It is as smooth to operate as I expected. I use a Canon 60D with a Canon Class L 100-400MM lens, which is heavy. This gimbal head really does make the adjustments effortless at all angles. I can shoot all day with little fatigue other than the 2 mile hike. It took me a long time to buy this head but I am glad I did.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So much easier. We bought two of these Gimbal Heads for my husband and I to use in our wildlife photography. When it comes to wildlife, there's not much time to fiddle with numerous adjustments. These heads offer quick and easy rotation for any angle. The knobs are big enough to use easily and locking in your shot is fast and easy without taking your eye away from the camera. Handles our 100-400 long lens with ease. It also allows you to balance this long and heavy lens so it seems to float on air. So happy we made the leap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Gimbal Head I am a Nature & Wildlife Photographer, love this head, not to big and bulky but very steady and stable. Very Nice

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Induro Gimbal Head The head feels pretty solid an smooth with my 500mm and 50D with winder. They could increase the screw hole slots to accommodate 2 screw mounting of the lens bracket for better support. Overall, I like the fact that it's smaller and lighter than the Wimberley (my primary reason to buy the Induro over the Wimberley) and at this point I don't see any restrictions in movement as some have stated. Now if Induro could figure out how to build a tripod without the center column.........................

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, easy to use. I bought this gimble head for my 100-400mm f/4. Works great, easy to use, and smooth tracking. Would recommend this to others.
