HDV-PRO Shoulder Support is rated 2.5 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awkward, not practical enough After recently purchasing a Panasonic AG-HMC150 camcorder, I foresaw the need for a shoulder adaptor to hopefully improve and make more comfortable my hand held video shooting. After years of using professional shoulder mount cameras, I thought this adaptor might be a solution for my non-shoulder mount camera. Unfortunately I found the HDV-PRO to be awkward and too time consuming to assemble. The hand grips tended to come undone easily at critical moments. Also the curved shoulder pad ends pressed in to my chest and back. I am making do for now however will keep researching for a product that may be more comfortable and practical.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Required for Canon XH-A1s This product is a must-have if you use a handheld camera similar in size to the Canon XH-A1s. Let's face it, most of us videographers are not body builders. Holding a huge camera for extended periods of time will eventually take its toll not only on your arm, but also on the steadiness of the camera. I attempted to build my own shoulder support, but failed miserably. The Switronix shoulder support is definitely overpriced, but I didn't really have a choice in the matter. It takes some fiddling around to get used to all the adjustments you can make, and to adjust it properly. I find that the quick release platform has to be moved as CLOSE to the body as possible (otherwise the weight of the camera pulls the whole thing forward and off your shoulder). I also had add additional foam padding to the front in order to keep it level and to keep it from digging into my chest. I ALSO had to unscrew the tightening levers to readjust their position in order to move the camera further back (you'll know what I mean when you play around with it). After all of that, I now have a great shoulder mount. My handheld shots are much steadier, and I can hold the camera forever now :) So, I give this product 3 stars on account of being overpriced and all of the manual adjustments I had to make. In the end it was worth it because for me, this is a required piece of equipment (my arm just gets too darn tired holding the Canon XH-A1s without the support). I would recommend this to a friend with the caveat that you will have to do some of your own adjusting. If you are handy with building things, take a look at the picture and try to build your own... it really shouldn't be too complicated (I'm just inept in that arena).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Support I tried some manual adjusting, but after using this for 15 minutes I was aching more than if I'd just been holding the camera. After about 20 minutes I just couldn't keep the camera steady enough. Very disappointed. I'm returning this product and will do some more research before buying a replacement.
