PortaBrace RB-3 Overview

The large Porta Brace RB-3 Lightweight Run Bag, in blue, is designed for news and production crews. The bag stores spare tapes, batteries, cables, microphones, and other audio/video accessories. The main compartment is foam-padded with a padded rigid bottom. Two sewn-in dividers span the 7" width, with a 12" divider in between. The long divider has a zippered slip pocket. On the outside, there are two large zippered compartments for cables or other items. Fold them out of the way for one large compartment.

The RB-3 has a zippered facing to keep even more water out, should the case be left out in the rain. It is carried by straps with suede leather grips and a suede leather, medium-duty shoulder strap. A bottom layer of Slip-Not water-barrier fabric with an easy-wipe-clean surface has been added.

1000-denier Cordura bag made to carry spare tapes, batteries, cables, microphones, and other audio/video accessories.
Main compartment is foam-padded, with a padded rigid bottom.
Two dividers are sewn into the bag on one side, and they hinge and attach to the other side; this creates a center compartment.
An included 12" center divider can be attached to partitions to create two longer compartments.
Full over-the-top zipper.

Two large zippered cable pockets on the outside.
A bottom layer of Slip-Not water-barrier fabric with an easy-wipe-clean surface has been added.

Not like the old ones

Wanted the rub bag type to carry misc stuff to shoots. Proven design. The quality doesn't seem there like Porta Brace's old bags. Material seems a little thinner and they made the mistake of moving away from YKK-why? I asked PB customer service and they didn't answer. Keeping it, but doubt I'll buy PB again.

Solid, spacious, easy to organize

I use this primarily for a eurorack modular synthesizer built into a case. What guided my purchase was that the RB-3 could accommodate this gear with tolerance, padding and solid build, as well as sneak in as a carry-on luggage (success!). This is a big, robust bag, with configureable interior padding, 3 interior and 4 exterior pockets, stash pockets at the front and back of the bag - I am able to get plenty of additional gear, cables, etc. packed in an organized (not crammed in) manner. Huge, solid zipper. Lovely, comfortable suede handle and shoulder strap. It's a size large, not a compact bag at all. So well made, great materials, great thought to the overall design. Great utility bag for my kit.
