Echo AudioFire Pre8 - 16 x 16 FireWire Audio/MIDI Interface

The AudioFire Pre8 from Echo is a FireWire audio and MIDI interface that's compatible with both Windows and Mac computers. It gives you 16 inputs and 16 outputs of high-resolution audio to the recording software of your choice. Six of the channels feature an auto-sensing capability that adjusts the input sensitivity automatically, depending on what kind of signal you plug into it (mic, line, or instrument).

All of the analog channels on the AudioFire Pre8 have combo XLR and 1/4" TRS balanced inputs. Channels 1 and 2 have dedicated hardware controls for phase, pad, DI, low pass filter, LoZ, and phantom power. There are also channel inserts on the rear panel for these two inputs. Channels 3 - 8 each have their own gain trim knob, and a phantom power button applies +48V to them all. Every input features a 4-segment LED meter that will help you avoid clipping and digital distortion.

In addition to a full-featured set of analog inputs, the AudioFire Pre8 has a powerful digital I/O section. There are 8 channels of ADAT inputs and outputs, with the ability to utilize S/MUX technology and enable 96 kHz recording and playback. The S/PDIF I/O can utilize either the optical or the coaxial connectors. Both ADAT and S/PDIF can adapt to professional and consumer equipment. Wordclock I/O is provided to keep the AudioFire Pre8 in sync with your other gear.
