Good Scratch & Bump Protection But...

I use this Lens Coat Real Tree cover to protect the lens from scratches and to make it stand out less when photographing wildlife. It does a good job of breaking up the outline of the lens and covers the lens & lens hood hood and fits fairly well. It helps keep the black crinkle finish from chipping if the lens gets bumped or scuffed. Seams in the lens around the focus and zoom rings are uncovered so don't expect this product to waterproof your lens. With the cover on the end of the lens the lens hood will no longer fit back on the lens if reversed for stowage. Also the lens will not fit in the Nikon lens case it came in unless you roll the front cover back about a third of an inch, then when you take the lens out again the cover is flared out and no longer hugs the lens at the end by the lens cap when you roll it back. If reversing the lens hood and storing the lens in its original Nikon case whenever you change lenses is not important to you, then you will like it a lot. Otherwise it makes storing the lens somewhat inconvenient. It is also expensive for what it is, however no one makes a comparable product. I recommend it, but with reservations.
