Samplitude 11 from Magix is native based PC software that provides all the tools necessary for complete audio production, from composition recording and sound creation using VST instruments, to editing, mixing and mastering the finished CD.
Being entirely native, the software is independent of proprietary audio hardware, meaning that the program will function just as well on a laptop, as on an audio workstation with dozens of inputs and outputs. MME, ASIO and WDM drivers are fully supported.
- Highly developed digital algorithms, absolute phase stability, and continuous application of floating point calculations ensure that the sound maintains its special nuances during even the most intense digital processing
- The results is transparency, neutrality, maintenance of transients and the sense of space
- Different audio formats from 16-bit to 32-bit floating point, and sample rates up to 384kHz can be used in the same session
- Up to 999 tracks are available in any single project, along with a possible 256 physical inputs and outputs, making even the biggest and most demanding projects easy to manage
- The VIP (VIrtual Project) arranger is the center for recording, cutting, editing, crossfading, and the place for arranging the final tracks for authoring a CD
- Everything in the VIP arranger takes place non-destructively - all crossfades, normalization, automated volume adjustments, or object effects remain separate from the recorded material, providing absolute editing freedom
- Every step and every setting may be changed in any way at any time or undone, without damaging the original material
- Tracks contain objects that are simply references to the actual recordings or imported material. Objects may be moved, cut, or otherwise adjusted with all of the editing steps remaining strictly non-destructive, and may be changed at any time and in any way
- The VIP display contains work-area presets that ensure clear arrangement of relevant functions on the screen, e.g. for recording or CD mastering
- The option is also available to adjust the complete functional palette via a skin change, and adjust the size of the controls, etc. for a user's particular needs
- A project-related manager set enables efficient management and archiving of objects, tracks, areas, markers, takes, VST instruments and routing, plus management of all other project content and data, directly from a single window
- An integrated file browser with drag and drop functionality makes finding and previewing audio files easier
- For systems with a single monitor, the manager window may be docked to the arranger window so that the arranger window is smaller when the manager is opened, or it may appear as an independent window
- The software include a number of different mouse modes with tools available for various different tasks, including selecting, editing, marking, cutting, drawing automation, or time-stretching/pitch shifting
- A universal mouse mode provides function that change when the pointer is in the upper or lower half of the track - the upper half is used for stretching and moving areas, while activity in the lower half controls selection, movement and duplication of objects
- Ranges are used for specifying sections for editing operations like cutting, copying, normalizing, etc., with sophisticated control over these functions
- Ranges can be accurately stretched to the sample level
- A convenient marker manager is provided to make overviews for CD layouts, CD index options, CD text, and ISRC codes
- The software can be controlled almost completely with shortcuts, especially useful for professional situations where time is at a premium
- Comping refers to the combination of multiple takes to create a single, "perfect" take. In the Take Composer, all of the takes recorded for a passage are displayed in descending order for convenient comparison
- As well as the classic track-related editing options, Samplitude also provides object-level editing providing additional opportunities for mixing and sound design
- The audio material may be split into any number of objects and moved on the track freely
- Every object can be edited with fades and effects, such as EQ, time-stretching, pitch shifting, or using VST plug-ins
- Objects can have exclusive auxiliary sends that are only active for that object, making complicated automation unnecessary
- The object editor offers real-time access to an object's settings
- All settings at the object level are calculated in real-time during playback - no new files are written to the hard drive. This saves space on the hard drive and allows settings to be changed again at any time
- The MIDI editor integrates different sub-editors that include a piano roll editor, drum editor, score editor, controller editor and a list editor
- The drum editor enables efficient and clearly laid-out processing of percussion instruments. The drum editor may be operated in two different modes:
- Matrix Mode - Conventional note display with exact indication of note start, length and pitch
- Cell mode - Special display with adjustable note width (pencil width) and definable quantization grid view per instrument
- The MIDI and drum editor's controller editor is able to display and edit up to 4 MIDI controllers
- The note editor displays the MIDI data of a MIDI object as a note in real time. If the MIDI data is moved or extended, then these changes are reflected immediately in the note's image
- If a new note is added in the score editor, then a corresponding MIDI note-on event will be created
- VST instruments may be embedded and controlled by the editors, no matter whether it is a synthesizer, a VSTi, or an external VST plug-in
- The integrated video engine includes improved caches and display color formats, useful for example when displaying MPEG formats
- Samplitude allows projects to be exchanged with Video Pro X via an EDL, where delivering finished videos with audio dubbing is required without incurring long export/import times
- The mixers calculate any settings made in real time - this includes track and master effects, panning and level settings, and device assignments for tracks, busses, or the master section
- Features included in the integrated mixer:
- Loading and saving VST presets
- Surround-capable
- Up to 16 inserts per channel
- Real-time effects in the master section including advanced dynamics, multi-band dynamics, multi-band stereo spread, de-hisser and FFT filter
- Freely configurable effects sequence
- Settings and views of the mixer may be saved as presets
- Offline mix-down function in all supported formats
- Record Monitoring function with effects
- Pan characteristic, stereo base processing and phase rotation can be set in each mixer track
- High-resolution analyzer, level displays, and correlation measurement
- Complete latency compensation of all channels, busses, etc.
- Tracks can be converted into so-called "economy tracks" at any time. This effect is subsequently left out of input monitoring to reduce system load with large buffer sizes. If a track like this is muted, then it doesn't have any effect on effects calculation
- To complete complex tracks without problems on less powerful host processors (a laptop for example), tracks can utilize "freezing" of auxiliary and sub-mix bus effects, producing a single audio track
- A VST instruments can be frozen so that the arrangement may be edited with a system that doesn't feature a particular plug-in
- Individual objects can be frozen on a track while other objects on the same track stay unfrozen. All tracks, instruments or objects may be "unfrozen" at any time for further editing
- The Remix Agent is a tool used to determine the tempo (BPM) and beat time positions of quarter notes in any song. Additionally, a tempo map for a song with a variable beat can be created for synchronizing it with other audio
- Support is provided for external Hardware controllers
- Full Automation of tracks and objects is available. Object automation follows the object if it is moved at any time
- Neutral sound makes it ideal for all application which require detailed nuances
- All bands are tunable from 1Hz to 22kHz, have a variable Q factor, and may be used for both tracks and objects
Brilliance enhancer
