Offering a true barium sulphate, or baryta, coating much like traditional silver halide paper, Baryta Photographique from Canson Infinity will take your inkjet prints to the next level with an excellent black density and high sharpness, making it ideal for black & white images. Available here as a 25-pack of 8.5 x 11" sheets, this extra smooth satin paper utilizes a 100% alpha cellulose base with a weight of 310 gsm and a thickness of 12.2 mil, providing a hefty feel and a more rigid structure. The paper also uses a very low amount of optical brightening agents to achieve an excellent whiteness of 99.16% and it is both acid free and internally buffered to ensure a great print longevity. Additionally, it is instant drying and has a high water resistance to prevent damage during handling.

Baryta Photographique Paper (8.5 x 11", 25 Sheets) is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 44.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent paper This Canson Baryta paper yields excellent results for black & white images printed on an Epson 3800 with the K3 inkset. Blacks are very deep yet still hold detail in the darkest shadows. Billed as having no OBA's, this is a slightly warm-toned paper yet whiter than Museo Silver Rag or Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Baryta. Less texture than the aforementioned, nearly similiar to the Ilford Gold Fibre Silk. Has the distinct baryta smell. No upward curl so it runs thru the printer with no head strikes along the corners. All in all, a wonderful paper. Just wish it was more readily available.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Paper I have compared several similar papers with the same image and found this one to be one of my favorites out of those that have this finish. It has more of a luster or satin type of finish as opposed to a high gloss. So it has a little shine but not the problem of light reflecting off it. The paper also maintained good detail and richness in the shadows without the ink becoming too heavy and blocking up. I also like the heavy weight of the paper compared to some others. It gives the image the feel of being higher quality to go along with its look of high quality. You do need a good cutter with the thicker paper though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Canson paper is beautiful printed I got this to try out and I must say that it exceeded my hope for a great B&W as well as color print paper. After going to their web site and obtaining the ICC paper profiles I installed them for Lightroom 5 as my print software. My printer is a Canon Pro9000 MarkII and the output on this paper is really excellent. It is a thick flat laying sheet with sort of a mid-gloss luster finish. A B&W print produces excellent greyscale tonallity and very fine detail. Mounting the thick ply sheets will be a breeze because each sheet lays flat. So a window matboard will have no problems with curl or warping. Between my use of pigmented inks and this print paper placed under archival matting and framing, I think over 100years of longevity is a resonable expectation. I plan to do my portfolio on this paper since it looks and works so well!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great paper for presentation work I started using Canson Baryta with an Epson R3000 printer, and the results are easily the best I have had with an inkjet paper. For B&W work, the whites are clean and neutral, and the blacks nice and deep, with a great tonal range in between. I had used Hahnemuhle Fine Art Baryta, but you had to compensate for the magenta cast of the paper. Canson's product is easier to work with. Most files will not require much editing to produce great results. Even though the results with B&W prints are exceptional, don't underestimate its performance with color work; the range there is excellent. This is an all-around winner, especially if your frame of reference for printing is graded paper or multicontrast paper.way back when.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great look and feel I really like this paper. It is a great alternative to a high glossy finish or matte paper. I use it mainly for portraits. Soft proofing in LR5 produces extremely predictable results. It still scratches easily like glossy paper though so be careful.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Paper for B&W I have used this baryta paper primarily for printing black and white. The gradations of tone are excellent, and the blacks deep. Compares well with Epson exhibition fibre paper, which I have printed in larger sizes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Paper, But Mine Came Damaged Inspect the paper immediately upon opening. This is absolutely lovely paper. I really cannot stress enough how incredible the resolution, color fidelity, dynamic range, whiteness of this paper is. On top of that, it has a beautiful surface finish with just the right amount of shine, and the weight of the paper is substantial and luxurious. I recommend it highly. However, I also highly recommend examining it as soon as it arrives, which I did not. Regrettably, the entire stack of paper in the box was dented, something I didn't notice before placing a stack of paper in my printer and printing half a dozen prints. I would have contacted B&H customer service for a replacement, but I would have felt bad having already used some of it. I will be buying this paper again in the future, but I will inspect all of it prior to printing. I am not sure if the damage to my box occurred during or before shipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to get good prints I bought this hoping to get a good B&W contest print. THe very first try gave an exhibition quality print, which is very unusual Probably the dynmaic range is large, so that brightness is less critical. I have a silver halide print ot the s image and the inkjet print is better. This is likely to become one of my two most used papers. Yes, it's equally good for color. On my Canon 9500 Mark II either Canon's SG profile or Canson's profile worked well.
