The Line-R 1200VA Automatic Voltage Regulator from APC provides automatic voltage regulation (AVR) to help protect against brownouts and overvoltages. It features an output power capacity and a max configurable power of 1200 VA / 1200W, a nominal output voltage of 120 VAC, a nominal input voltage of 120 VAC at 50/60 Hz, and a surge energy rating of 680 joules. It utilizes four NEMA 5-15P input connections and a 6.5' power cord. While the unit itself is protected by a limited 2-year repair or replace warranty, any gear connected to this unit is protected by a limited $25,000 equipment-protection policy.

    Rated 1 out of 5 by from Boat Anchor This product is basically a box of wire with some lights on the front. I purchased this product to go between the wall and my UPS in order to provide constant line voltage when running on a backup generator. The issue was that my UPS was blocking its outlets when the incoming voltage was too high. The issue with this product is that it only regulates the voltage up or down when the voltage is out by either 6 volts or 6 % (I cannot remember which). If the voltage is say 125Volts the unit does absolutely nothing as 125Volts is within its allowed operating range of +/- 6 volts or 6%. The downside is that my UPS shuts off its outlets at + 5 volts so the unit was absolutely useless.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Off grid- works in reverse too I am 100% off grid with Solar, when I run a washing machine the power fluctuations to my whole house are horrendous as the solar inverter tries to keep up with the On-OFF cycles of the AC motor loads. I purchased a few APC 1200 Line R regulators to protect my equipment. Then I had a thought... what if I used it to regulate the voltage to the washing machine. This goes against the instructions and not what it is intended for. I run a 450W washing machine 1200 regulator, so there is a bit off buffer there for the inductive loads... It works perfectly and no more flashing lights and voltage spikes through the house.

I used to run a UPS and loved how it always ensured I got the proper voltage to my devices, but I hated having to buy new batteries every couple of years. I also wanted better protection than a standard surge suppressor would allow. I have been running numerous Line-R 1200 units for over 10 years and am very pleased with their performance. During the summer months when everyone on the grid is running their aircon I am always seeing this trip over to transformer mode, protecting my electronics from under-voltage/brownout conditions. Job well done APC!

    Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid Line Voltage Regulator This is the second Line-R 1200VA regulator that I've purchased. The first protects my entertainment center. The one I just bought protects my Internet Wi-Fi radio. These units work like a champ and are relatively inexpensive. When my house voltage is too low (often) or too high, I can hear the transformer "switching gears" to perform its job. I've not lost a device to brown-outs so far.

I own three of these units and am in an area where voltage varies constantly. These units faithfully keep the voltage constant making for "happier" * electronic equipment. * less likely to fail due to voltage variations.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product, but *Think* before you Buy! Automatic Voltage Regulation devices (AVR) are great for electrical environments with poor quality AC power. This one works great and is quite economical. However, it can do very little when blackout conditions occur. I think it makes more sense to spend just a bit more and purchase a UPS for protection of sensitive electronic loads. A UPS will provide the same, if not better, AVR protection, and also allows for a controlled and gentle shutdown when total power loss conditions occur.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from very straightforward this product was simple to set up, did exactly what I wanted it to. And hopefully will give me many years of protection. I have a high end piece of audio equipment that was tripping ofline for an unknown reason. the manufactur informed me that there was most likely a over voltage situation. Sure enough after plugging this device in, the lights indicated exactly that, and now the sound system is working flawlessly.
