Mamiya DM56 Digital Camera System w/ 80mm f/2.8 Digital Lens
Key Features
  • Large 56 x 36mm CCD Sensor
  • 56 Megapixels
  • Mamiya 645DF Camera Body
  • In-camera Focal Plane Shutter
The Mamiya DM56 Digital Camera System brings photographic industry leaders Schneider, Phase One and Leaf together to produce a high-end versatile digital camera system. The DM56 features a 56 megapixel sensor, that when matched with great optics, results in exquisitely detailed image files. The large 56 x 36mm sensor, coupled with a 16 bit/channel color palette, provides exceptional color accuracy and rich high dynamic range photographs in just a single capture.

The system is built around the Mamiya 645DF camera body that features two user-selectable shutter systems - leaf or focal plane. In daylight situations, you can use one of 3 leaf-shuttered lenses (55mm, 80mm, 110mm), designed by Schneider-Kreuznach and manufactured by Mamiya. This allows high-speed flash synchronization up to 1/800 in order to fill-in or overpower even the brightest ambient light. Photographers can choose from among any of Mamiya's 15 AF-series lenses ranging from 28mm to 300mm, all 3 Sekor LS D leaf-shutter lenses (55mm, 80mm, and 110mm), as well as all Mamiya M645-mount lenses with certain limitations (manual focus confirmation, focus aid, stopped-down exposure metering).

Mamiya DM56 Overview

The 645DF body combines 35mm handling and speed with a large image capture area. It is a full-featured camera, with a fixed prism viewfinder with diopter adjustment. The camera also features Aperture-priority AE, shutter-priority AE, programmed AE, and manual exposure modes.

Mamiya offers powerful software options for this imaging system. You have the flexibility of processing files using either of the included software solutions: Capture One by Phase One or Leaf Capture. You can also use Adobe Lightroom (not included) and Photoshop (CS4 and above, not included) in order to process RAW files. The Mamiya DM56 is a very modular camera system for the ultimate in versatility. Using optional adapters, the digital back can be used with view cameras with Graflock backs, Mamiya RZ-series cameras, and Mamiya RB camera bodies.

Two user-selectable shutter systems - in-camera focal plane and leaf, with 3 leaf-shuttered lenses (55mm, 80mm, 110mm) designed by Schneider-Kreuznach and manufactured by Mamiya - allow for up to 1/800th-second high-speed flash synchronization
Change ISO, manage folders and individual files, check histograms and review important shooting information on a big, bright 3.5" touch screen display. The LCD is sharp, accurate and a great way to review your work. Using a stylus or just your finger, it's easy to change settings, organize files, or compare shots using the intuitive, on-screen menu.
Often regarded as a "normal" or "standard" lens, the 80mm focal length in medium format is a wonderful choice for portraiture, distortion-free landscape, and product photography. Designed to see as your eye sees, the newly-developed 80mm f/2.8 has been optimized for digital with new optical coatings, improved autofocus speeds, and an AF/MF clutch for critical focus subjects.
You have the flexibility of processing files using either of the included software solutions: Capture One by Phase One or Leaf Capture. You can also use Adobe Lightroom (not included) in order to process RAW files.
