Is this battery made by APC or some third party vendor?
There are four 12v batteries wired in series in this cartridge; all of the batteries in the unit I purchased were stamped with APC's branding.

are there instructions for switching the cartridge?
If I recall, there are instructions provided but it's simple. Leave the unit powered on, unplug the power connector from the battery pack, remove the screws holding it in, swap the battery pack, replace the screws, plug the connector back in. Check the display to clear any errors and/or verify no errors.
