When a large telephoto lens and camera are mounted to a tripod's ball head, they are balanced when the center of gravity is directly vertical over the ball head, but as soon as it moves it will tend to fall. In contrast, the BWG-Pro Gimbal Head from Jobu Design operates on the principle of balancing the camera and lens at their natural center of gravity to prevent them from tipping over, similar to the way a large telescope is mounted to neutralize its weight.
The BWG-Pro has oversized, one-piece, cast and heat-treated construction for stiffness and rigidity. It has ball bearing support in its tilt-axis for zero static and no dynamic friction thus enabling exceptionally smooth positioning of equipment. It also has a newly redesigned and stiffened horizontal mount swing-arm with spring loaded movement for increased control. The mounting clamp is oriented to a horizontal position (rather than a vertical side-mount) so the BWG-Pro allows you a much easier way of installing the lens and also removes all the shear stress from the lens-collar.
- Recommended for use with the following lenses for easier handling and loading:
- 600mm f/4
- 400mm f/2.8
- 300-80mm
- Will also work with the following lenses:
- 70-200mm f/4
- 300mm f/2.8
- 200mm f/2.8
- 300mm f/2.8
- 50-500mm
- 200-400mm
- 150-500mm
- 500mm f/4
