    Sony BCTRV reviews

BC-TRV Travel Charger is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 191.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Slow to charge - check the specs This unit is small and convenient, and the charge status LEDs are a nice touch. However, it puts out 400 mA at best, so charging times are slow. For example, a Sony NP-FV70 is listed in the manual as taking 385 minutes to charge fully using the BC-TRV, versus 205 minutes charging in an FDR-AX53 with the AC adapter. If you have the larger NP-FV100, be prepared to wait 680 minutes with the BC-TRV. If you don't have that much time to charge, then this is probably only good for topping off a partially discharged battery while you charge another one in the camera or some other beefier charger.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Charges Quickly, Small, Good Design Had been charging my Sony camcorder using the power cord, but needed another alternative when I started covering high school sporting events back-to-back instead of one game at a time. As the reviews stated while I was researching my purchase, this model is small for easy transport, but sturdy. So far it has charged my Sony and Pearstone batteries quickly, and it is nice to have the progress bar lights instead of just the charging/done charging light on other models. I am very value concsious, but the price of this Sony charger was not a lot more than the generic equivalent, so I opted to go with the name brand for this purchase. Very happy with the results.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good and realiabe. I made the mistake of getting an off name brand to save money on a battery charger. It was a waste of time and money. It didn't accurately show how much charge the battery had which is a huge liability for industry professionals like us. I then replaced it with the Sony BC-TRV and everything was so much better. I could go to the shoot KNOWING that my batteries were properly charged. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because occasionally the insert/adapter that you slide your battery into comes out. It pops right back in but this is a little annoying. Other than that, no complaints. Finally I'd like to stress to everyone that (in my personal experience) the things that you simply can not skimp on are your recording media, your batteries and your battery chargers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a winner. Do you really need a charger when you can charge the battery through the camera? No, not really. BUT it does provide some peace of mind if you want to do a lot of shooting at one event and cannot have the camera connected to power. One great thing about this charger is that there is no cord - just a fold out plug. This makes it very compact and easy to carry in your camera bag. It also means that is will not be sitting on the floor where it can get stepped on or kicked or sitting on a table where someone can spill a drink on it. It is a great accessory.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Great battery charger! I use it to charge my Sony batteries for my HDR-CX560V and it works great. Especially enjoy the lights to let you know the state of the charge. That way you're secure in knowing weather you have a full charge or not when you're ready to go. I like to have a few batteries with me and this charger is handy for having spares charging while you have another one on the cam. The only other way to charge is on the cam, so if you're using multiple batteries throughout the day, this charger is a must.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact Sony battery charger I consider this an essential piece of equipment so you can charge a spare battery while using the camera to continue taking pictures. Otherwise, you have to connect the AC power supply to the camera to charge the battery. That prevents you from using the camera. The Sony DSC-HX100V digital still camera comes with one battery and a camera power supply which will power the camera and charge an installed battery. But if you want to have one or more spare batteries (which is always a good idea) then it's ideal to have a way to charge it without tying down the camera. This charger is extremely small, plugs directly into a receptacle and has LEDs to indicate status. Excellent design. Fortunately, when I went on-line to order this from Sony, they were out of stock, so I turned to B&H where the price was significantly less. ...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MUST HAVE!!!! If you buy any camera that takes the Sony batteries, buy this! This is a great addition no matter what you plan to do with your camera. Without this little travel charger the only way to actually charge your batteries is while they are on the camera. Which doesn't really help if you have to charge a battery on location. The size makes it perfect it and another battery in your pocket.
