Even when the light is low, with a high 1600 ISO, optical image stabilization, and Low Light Mode you can still get great photos without using the built-in flash. 10.0 Megapixel Resolution
With 10.0 megapixels of resolution, you'll be able to capture superb detail and color resulting in beautiful prints with excellent sharpness and clarity at print sizes of over 20 x 30".
4x Optical Zoom Lens
The 4x optical zoom lens is made to Canon's demanding specifications, and is capable of shooting close-ups, group shots or scenery.
2.7" LCD Display
The 2.7" high-resolution LCD screen is crisp, clear, and bright so it is easy to frame your shots under even bright light conditions. It also features Night Display for easy viewing in low light.
Rechargeable Lithium-ion Battery Pack
Lithium-ion battery makes the camera lighter and offers an easy alternative to recharge the battery.
High Sensitivity
The camera features high ISO sensitivity of up to ISO 1600 to reduce the effects of camera shake and sharpen subjects in low-light situations, providing you with greater shooting flexibility.
Smart Auto Mode
Smart Auto Mode has Scene Detection Technology that recognizes up to 18 different scenes and automatically applies the optimum settings required to capture the best picture.
Low Light mode
With an ISO of 500 - 3200, the Low Light mode takes the Canon PowerShot A3000 IS where no A-Series has gone before. Now even scenes notorious for having insufficient light, such as those lit by candles, fire, or street lamp, come through in fantastic color and clarity with less noise. You can keep the feel of the scene intact without adding additional light.
Face Detection Technology
Face Detection Technology makes it easy to take pictures of friends, by tracking faces and providing correct exposure and focus for the best results. Face Select & Track allows one face to be given priority over others in a group if desired, while Red-Eye Correction identifies and corrects red eyes, making sure everyone looks their best. The smart FaceSelf-Timer feature allows the photographer to be included in group photos, only taking the shot when an extra face has entered the frame.
Super Vivid Mode
Super Vivid Mode captures the colors you see with your mind's eye, saturating the scene with intense colors. Sunsets and floral scenes turn into bursts of color, and get your photo noticed.
Poster Effect
Poster Effect combines several similar shades into one color, turning subtle gradations into eye-catching, scene-popping contrasts.
18 Shooting Modes
Choose from Auto, Program, Movie, or Special Scene where you can select from settings such as Night, Snow, Indoor, Beach and more to get the best possible image.

    Canon A3000 IS Reviews

PowerShot A3000 IS Digital Camera is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 48.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Camera for its Price I bought this camera as a supplement to my DSLR. I wanted to have a camera that was small enough to carry in my pocket while on vacation, on days that I didn't want to haul my DSLR around. At the same time, I wanted a camera that didn't break the bank but still took decent pictures. I'm very pleased with the quality of pictures and the camera itself at this price point. It's much better than the other cameras I've seen for the same price. The controls are very simple and straightforward. There is a slight delay after you take a picture, as many online reviews have pointed out. However, it's not that cumbersome to me. I don't consider it to be a huge issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This was so good, I bought TWO! It is high resolution and compact! Fairly fast first photo! Easy to take great pictures on Auto Mode - it really does work 99.9% of the time! This is used for almost all of my photos - from family pics to photos of my artwork to be displayed on the web or used in RFQ's and even for print. It does take a little time to cycle between shots using flash, but still fairly spry. I don't like the position of the zoom button, it is awkward to use while composing a shot. No viewfinder. For the price - I dare you to find a better everyday camera.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Just an OK camera The camera it self is not bad but I was expecting a better camera than what I got. I bought this camera for my mom as a christmas gift and even though she loves it I'm thinking of buying her a new one because I've seen her struggle with this one. The camera is slow when shooting in dark conditions and the quality of the pictures is not as good as one might expect. This gift was supposed to be an upgrade for her old 6 megapixel Casio camera but to me the picture quality is the same. The body of the camera is plastiky and cheap, but I guess that's what you get when you spend less than $100 dollars on a digital camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value, fine camera I am a casual photographer (family, trips, etc.) but like very good photos. I researched this purchase carefully and am happy with this product. The body is not as slim as other models; our adult kids say it seems a little plastic-y, but it's important photography features are as good as the more expensive cameras, and it's size is mere millimeters larger than the sleeker models. The photos look super. This camera is for wise and discerning photographers who aren't easily up-sold on camera looks alone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ready to Go Because it bounced off the ground one too many times,I broke my 4 megapixel Casio, which I always found to be a bit too complicated for my tastes. For example, instead of snapshots, i only found i was accidentally shooting video until after i got home. I might sound like a bozo but all I want to do is point and shoot, you know? So i searched for the cheapest Canon i could find, thinking it might also be the simplest to use. Little did I know, all the very cheap cameras use only disposable batteries, which is just crazy talk; how inconvenient is that. So this here A3000 is the cheapest Canon that uses a rechargeable battery. One of my hopes was that the flash shots inside dark buildings are bright enough, and yes they are. I don't shoot moving shots or movies so those things are not important to me as i use mine for work only. It did not come with a memory card which was a surprise but luckily i still had my old one which worked out good. All the pictures look good to me so far after 30 shots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from She loves it! I purchased this camera for my wife. Our old camera was great in normal light for landscape or interior decorating uses but came up short in low light or active subjects such as grand children or pets. My wife loves the kids/pets setting and the low light setting as well as the candlelight type uses. The ease of transfering pictures to computer and the longlasting battery are also real pluses. Ease of use with great pictures sums it up for us.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Basic Point As a loyal Cannon Powershot camera user I completely dislike the format of this camera. Furthermore the camera has a lightweight feel to it that reminds me of the old disponsable cameras. On the other hand, for its price, it still takes some good pictures. I would love if these point-and-shoot cameras had more than one brightness setting for the flash. Oh, and one HUGE problem with this camera, if one of your fingers wanders to the front of the camera when taking the picture the camera switches to macro mode and takes blurry photos.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Camera and the Price is Right The camera is great to carry around when you don't want to take your heavy-expensive equipment. It is also great to lend to your friend, yes those friend that are still thinking about buying a digital camera. It is also great camera for the office, or if you work with College students, like I do, it's a great camera to let them borrow it for a while to document their trips and activities,
