The BBR1-B BlackBox Recorder from JoeCo is a standalone, USB based, 24-track recorder that has been specifically designed for recording live performances and multichannel audio with balanced analog I/O. While functionally identical to other models in the BlackBox range, the BBR1-B is tailored for use with standard analog mixing consoles via balanced +4 dBu or -10 dBu connections using 25-pin D-sub connectors wired to the TASCAM analog format.
This compact 1 RU recorder uses electronically balanced signals. Its balanced inputs are the lower row of three 25-way D-type connectors and its balanced outputs are the upper row, enabling easy capture of soundchecks, performances, and rehearsals. With features optimized for live use—including virtual soundcheck, zero-latency monitoring, and power-fail-safe relays—the BBR1-B ensures secure, high-quality multitrack recording without requiring a computer. Recordings are written directly to USB2 drives in Broadcast WAV (BWF) format at up to 24-bit/96 kHz resolution, making it easy to import tracks into any DAW with no conversion. Playback lockout and accidental-record-stop protection keep performances secure, while multiple BlackBox units can be linked for larger setups.
