Studio Projects B1 Overview

  • 1Description

The B1 Large-Diaphragm Cardioid Studio Condenser Microphone from Studio Projects is a 1" single diaphragm, externally polarized, cardioid, pressure-gradient, transducer microphone with an FET impedance converter, a 75 Hz or 150 Hz selectable filter, and -10dB and -20dB pads. It can be used to capture audio in home and project studio applications on instruments with high sound-pressure levels, vocalists, broadcasters, and more.

The B1's gold-sputtered, 1" pressure-gradient transducer and transformerless circuitry provide high-quality audio with extremely low self-noise, and its cardioid pickup pattern is designed to reject off-axis sounds. The mic is built with a standard 3-pin XLR connector and is powered by 48V phantom power. A foam windscreen, shockmount, and zippered storage bag are also included.

    Studio Projects B1 Reviews

B1 Large-Diaphragm Cardioid Studio Condenser Microphone is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Entry Level Condenser Mic Sounds great -- very neutral. Well built and comes with a decent shock mount and protective case. An excellent value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SURPRISED ME i bought this and the VTB1 tube preamp because i needed money and downsized my studio to something of a hobby studio instead of a turnkey studio....the quality of the mic is great....its sturdy when in the snug fitting shockmount included in the package, its heavy and well contructed, and the switch between 0/-10/-20 is well built....there is absolutly NO HUM, NO HISS, and NO DISTORTION transmitted from the mic to the interface, or thru the playback on monitors from the DAW....its clear and semi-warm, and picks up great within a three-foot range....the big plus here is the noise-reduction the mic provides from ambient noises you DON'T WANT your microphone to pick-up....when used with its counterpart by design, the VTB1 preamp, it gives the extra crispness and warmth you would expect in a way more expensive microphone....that too is well contructed....there is no need to change a tube, and it is percisionly matched to the B1 microphone...well done guys, well done indeed

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I was surprised and psyched! When I was recently putting together my home studio I was looking for a good vocal mic *. From everything I read online it seemed like the B1 was a good choice and I have to say so far it has been better than I had hoped. I have recorded vocals and acoustic guitars with it and my bandmates and I have been very pleased with how it performed. It's sounded very warm and clear. Getting the mic out of the shock mount is problematic but to sound like it does for $*I am not gonna take a star away for that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good novice to start off. I will say this I already had a condenser mic since I got the Focusrite studio bundle and comparing the two I think the B1 is better. What makes this mic better is that you change settings on your mic from normal settings to -10db to -20db which is suppose to cut the bass and background noise and this helped me since I am doing voice over work. I'll be adding more to this review when I have time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for the price It has a great sound especially for low male voices and the price is unbelievable, but i found it a little noisy and didnt like a lot the shockmount. Anyway its better than most mics in the price range and versatile
