Pioneer HTZ787DVD All Region DVD Home Theater System
- All Region DVD Player + AM/FM Receiver
- 5.1 Surround System
- HDMI Input
- 720p, 1080i, 1080p
First, there's the basics. It's an AM/FM radio and all-region DVD player with a built-in 5.1 channel audio system. (The first five speakers are the left and right front, center, and left and right surround. The point 1 is the subwoofer that produces the really low notes.) It's got DTS and Dolby Digital and Dolby Pro Logic II to put those speakers through their paces. And it's both NTSC and PAL compatible
If you're thinking of getting a Blu-ray player you can rest assured your HTZ787DVD will be ready for it. Thanks to its HDMI input and component output you can enjoy 720p, 1080i, and 1080p signals pumped into it from a satellite or cable box in addition to that Blu-ray player.
Optical audio was invented to keep audio signals, like those from a CD in pristine digital form so you can get the best sound possible. This Pioneer has it.
It also has some unexpected features. You can record CDs to whatever device you plug into the USB port. That can be a portable music player or a flash drive you can use to transfer your music to your PC or other USB-equipped device.
The USB port swings both ways. If you've got a device that contains movies in AVI or DivX format you can plug it in and watch those movies on your TV.
There's even a slot for Pioneer's optional AS-BT100 Bluetooth adapter. Bluetooth is a short range wireless technology. You may have seen people walking around town who seem to be talking to themselves. On closer examination you notice some Star Trek-looking gizmo hanging from one of their ears. That's a wireless Bluetooth headset. Not only cell phones but an increasing number of portable music players have Bluetooth connections. With the Bluetooth option you can play music from your Bluetooth-enabled cell phone or music player wirelessly.
