    Canon NB-8L reviews

    NB-8L Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery Pack (3.6V, 740mAh) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hope this one lasts longer! I bought this battery as an extra for the original one I got with the camera. Unfortuately the one I have doesn't last long enough. After it was fully charged, it only took 164 photos before dying on me (I took simple photos without deleting or any videos). Unfortunately I didn't get any photos on the last day of my trip! Now I have this extra battery which is good but I hope when charged it will take more than 164 photos!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Proprietary, but a high quality battery. Before posting any opinion of this product, I feel compelled to express my distaste for proprietary batteries in general. These types of batteries are among the most lucrative games that manufacturers play. Instead of AA rechargeables that are available virtually anywhere, proprietary batteries can only be purchased from an authorized dealer. They are completely unique to the manufacturer's product, (camera.) They can therefore be priced at any amount, and discontinued whenever they desire. It eliminates most competition. Your only option is to pay the price or stop using the product. That pretty much leaves you over a barrel. Considering that 2 new batteries will cost you over $, you may not feel that the camera is worth the investment 2 years down the road. Proprietary batteries are a lot cheaper in the long run than standard alkaline. On the other hand, they're a lot more expensive that rechargeable AA's. Having established that, this is a surprisingly high capacity battery. Since the A3100 camera does not have an optical viewfinder, all composing is done via the display. One of the biggest contributors to battery drain is the viewing screen. In spite of that, the camera runs for a very acceptable period on a single charge. Although I have not calculated the number of photos per charge, I've found that 2 batteries are more than adequate for anything I've encountered. The battery is relatively simple to change. There is a small clip in the camera that holds it in place. Care must be taken not to force the battery in either direction until the clip is in the correct position. That is not difficult however, or particularly time consuming. In all fairness, it's quicker and easier to change one battery than to charge and insert 2 to 4 AA's. Although a generic version of this battery is available, this item has an approximate 25% more milliamp rating. That will give you a longer run time, and is worth the price difference, in my opinion. It also charges in a short period of time. With the included charger, it will charge to full capacity in less than 90 minutes. There is no hassle whatsoever in terms of inserting or removing it from the charger. Laying aside my general gripes with proprietary batteries, these batteries perform in an acceptable manner that will not disappoint you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product is another Canon Great In taking family pictures at a First Communion all were easy to capture portraits and wide angle views. Another great feature is it's size. Fits right into my cell phone compartment of my purse. So far I have no complaints. Another great Canon product I've purchased. Keep up the great work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this product again and again I brought a canon camera and could not find the battery ANYWHERE. I found this online for a really affordable price. It works as it should, and I can't seem to find any negative things about it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect! I love having a second battery for the camera. It's easy to charge and keep in the bag so that I can make a quick swap during a long day of picture-taking when I am on the road in Italy!!
